iKan FLY-X3 - This is the definitive review about the iKan FLY-X3. This wonderful 3 axis gimbal for smartphones works incredibly well, as I will show you in this video, where you will see the stabilizer in action, and you will be able to compare the footage you get without and with it.

I must admit that the smartphone I am using, the OnePlus One, is a bit too heavy for the gimbal, and in fact, if you’ll decide to buy it, you’ll have to add a small counterweight to the right side of the arm, in order to help the gimbal working properly.

When you want to hold the shot still, the gimbal performs really well keeping the camera steady, while when you move, its motors follow the movements making them smoother.

Even walking down the stairs the result is always nice. I wasn’t paying attention to the shot, but it came out incredibly well.

You’ll find difficult to follow fast actions as the gimbal always tries to smooth your movements, but that’s actually a positive point in my opinion. And especially in slow motion, the smoothness of the movements is really stunning.

In conclusion, I love the iKan fly-x3 as it really improves the shooting performance of our smartphones, though I hope iKan will soon release an upgraded version, able to handle even the heavier smartphones out there.

I use a twist Method when filming with my One Plus One. Works like this, and is FREE:

Just use a twist method when taking a Picture or Filming with your One Plus One. Better than any OIS in my opinion. (doesn't matter if One Plus One or any other cell phone). It does take two hands though.

    1) Hold phone in Landscape Mode
    2) Place left thumb bottom left, right thumb bottom right
    3) Place left middle finger top left, right middle finger top right
    4) Open Camera app
    5) Press for focus if enabled with index finger
    6) Do the following to stabilize your cell phone
-Right Middle finger push phone towards you
    -Right thumb push away
    -Left Middle finger Push away
    -Left Thumb pull towards

    7) Take Picture using Right Index finger while using twisting motion.

    8) Problem solved, your welcome.

The FLY-X3-Plus is just released and would be a better fit for the large OnePlus One and other large phones. It will work with smaller phones and devices like GoPro with optional adapters.
