Battery/Charging I'm going to RMA my 9 Pro because of Battery life

Honestly it's awful. I did wonder if it was faulty. When AccuBattery told me it was 50% efficient that sounded realistc to me. (i know why it does this.)

The battery life is woeful. I've never got a full day out of it with out a tea time top up, and i'm not a particlarly heavy user. And i always got a full day out my OP5t with apparetly 75% battery efficiency.

So it going back, i'm not convinced it's not faulty. So my question is has anyone ever RMA'd something to OnePlus? How easy is it? What courier do they use?

Accubattery is guessing far to much and don't detect the battery correctly.
I've done 2 full charges now. 2 nightly charges. And manually checked it with a manual background optimize.
While a SoT does not say much... Here is how it did for me yesterday. Good enough I'd say.

I have verified that nothing strange is happening in the background and all my apps is installed. Using QHD+ and 120Hz.

The OS does not settle in and perform it's very best right away. It takes time. Regular use and a few full charges can be needed. A helping hand can be to manually force a background optimize.

Background optimizing (adb shell) : cmd package bg-dexopt-job

    Adb installation.

Opps... Apperently I did not screenshot the SoT. But it was like 8.5h

yeah i know all this. I don't think you realise just how bad my battery is. like SoT <1hour. 5% an hour whilst off.

Sounds like you could have a faulty device.
Haven't fully tested out the battery. But with light use. Mine was showing about 75% around 5:30pm.
With the full 120hz and QHD+ you can see the battery drain.
I've RMA'd a pre-order. On your orders screen there should be an option to RMA. If you bought any items separately make sure you tick the item on the RMA form as it doesn't automatically tick the item. I had a nightmare getting a refund when the items were RMA'd separately for one order.
The courier will be automatically selected. I would make sure you have the items boxed and ready. As the courier turned up the next day with notifying me first and I wasn't ready.

It didn't show anything in battery stats when it drained that much?

Check these 2. And if that does not show it detailed enough you could find more info about active processes via adb shell.

CPU usage (adb shell) : top -m 10 (or a other number of your choosing).

    Adb installation.

You checked full device stats too?
I've read about some more tricky drain hiding behind Android OS/System. Via that adb command it was discovered what it was.

Exactly. Wife's S21+ was warm too a period of time (bought and set up the same day). But I think it has settled down and acts more normal now. She complains once in a while about her phone issues, but I rarely is allowed to help her properly either so... 😜
While mine has stayed cool at all times. Luckily these heat issues don't seem happen to everyone. So far very happy with it myself.

I tried to trigger heat warnings when people complained at heat on 8 Pro too. Held my phone in the blazing sun on a beach. That was the only times I could get temp warnings. Fairly hot for being Sweden then.
But on the other hand... My hot days are nothing compared to for example India. Here people almost die if being hotter than 30°C and some start to undress and lay on beach at like 16°C 😜

I see you charging it to 100% every time. I charge mine to about 80% because i thought that would be better for battery life. Do you disagree with that? Because im currently unable to see my SoT as it looks back at the last time fully charged lol. My phone has some issues regarding heat, would it be helpful to fully charge the phone a few times?

More or less always nightly wirelessly with bedtime mode.
The way I see it. 100% might add some wear... But all the troubles and practically guarding the phone to disconnect at the right time. Terror and chaos if something goes wild and drains the battery during the night... For me I rather want to be sure it's 100% when I wake up (I use optimized charging after all). If I need some extra power I just add some extra during the day.
I prefer to enjoy the phone over guarding it 😜
If you are OK with only doing partial charges it's fine too. Problem might just be the background optimize. But that can easily be solved via manually doing it via adb shell. The command is mentioned in a previous post.

Thank you. I will wait a few more days as it appears to get slightly better. Also patches via updates might work, so im not stressing out too much 😄

Some take that 20-80% charging a little too serious. One time a guy came and seriously believed he caused permanent damage due to having fallen asleep and let it charge over the night. What that did was probably giving a much needed background optimize opportunity instead of any harm 😉

Personally I don't want do loose even 5% just by having it lying there next to me while I sleep. But tonight I'll do a idle drain test to gather some nightly drain stats via BetterBatteryStats.

Hahaha I could be that type of guy lol. If you try to leave it draining over night, I will keep it plugged in this night. I also just restarted my phone for the first time, which is pretty dumb considering I tried nearly everything but that.. Hope I notice any difference tomorrow. Also hope I can sleep, knowing a 65 watt supercharger is keeping my phone at 100% all night 😜
