[IMPORTANT] OnePlus 5T does not support HD viewing for Netflix, Google Play Movies, etc

I'm testing now on a Nexus 9 tablet, fully supporting Widevine L1.
I've downloaded the same movie (HD icon visible in the Nexus 9) from different devices:
    Movie title: Anhilitation
Size on the Oneplus 5t : 0.96 GB
Size on the Nexus 9 : 1.7 GB

Both app settings at maximum download size.

So, I'm afraid Netflix is banning my device (regardless of the Widevine implementation) no matter what.

Any idea what else could be wrong?

I am surprised that after 110 pages off comments, no one has really checked if there is a quality difference on Netflix after the upgrade !

Many people have checked and confirmed, including me, but I'm on stable. I guess you didn't read these 110 pages you mentioned.

Well, I'm not saying nobody checked, I'm just saying it doesn't work for me. I'm now on stable and download sizes are half the sizes I see on my Nexus 9. So , can either of you guys please send me a logcat so I can compare? Also, I don't see the HD icon anywhere, I do see it on the N9 but still, it's a tablet, the GUI is not the same so not really sure where should it be on the phone. Any screenshot showing that could help.

PS "it works for me" could mean many things, such as "DRM Info says L1 supported" but that's not what I'm asking for.
PS2 there are reports of Netflix having a closed list of supported devices, same as Amazon Prime, just saying...

My OnePlus 5T says it's on Widevine L1. I can see the HD icon in Netflix, set the download quality to HD and download videos in size that indicates it is indeed high quality. So "it works for me". I can assure you that OP5T is supported by the Netflix app.

I'm like you. I'm using a custom ROM based on the Open Beta 6 and my Netflix didn't work with L1...
I need to rename the liboemcrypto.so to at least have Netflix...

Well, it's fixed now. The winner combo is OOS stable, Netflix 5.15 from PlayStore instead of 4.16 from Netflix webpage and no root. I can now see the HD icon and quality is improved apparently. Thank you all for your help.

Works on stable, but not on OB4, wonder if the issue is on Netflix's end or OnePlus'?

maybe the fact one is a tablet one is a phone.

could someone with another phone try the Netflix download of the same film and detail the size?

    OnePlus 5T: Widevine L3
    Movie title: Annihilation
Size on the Oneplus 5T: 1.7 GB

As I've already said in a previous post, I see no artifacts, no low quality, despite the Widevine L3, and I'm not going to send the device in service for this reason.

could you possibly post a screenshot showing the 'HD' logo? unless i'm totally blind, i can't seem to find it.

Good point. Curious. Even when I'm watching on 4K TV, and the info menu indicates the 2160p, I don't have the 'HD logo'.

You do realize that it you're watching on your 4k tv it was nothing at all to do with the phone right? Even if you're "casting" the phone never handles the stream.

    Yes. I do.
But it's about a 'Netflix concept'. I suppose that, even it's for TV, PC (neither on my FHD AiO Windows 10, e.g.) or Phone, the application will 'look and feel' the same.
    It's logic, nothing else.

So, I've inquired Amazon India customer care about the status of DRM Licence, He said It's a work in progress and they are holding talks with the mobile manufacturers!! He said it could take a few days. He sounded like they are pretty much aware of the situation as it's not just OP and a lot of other manufactures facing the same issue. You can also call them up and put some pressure on.

Prime Video > Settings > Contact Us > App Issues > Video Streaming Issues > Phone.

Just fill in your number and they'll call you immediately
