Are you kidding me? my OP5T just shipped today!
How was such an issue never brought up for the Onelus5 after 6 months?! are you guys sure it doesn't support HD? Or is this just some mass Nocebo effect, where people read that it doesn't support HD, and suddenly they realize how shitty the content looked?

that's just ridiculous. I already thought the screen was funky but this explains everything! Anyone who says they don't see the difference are either blind or did not compare it.

    Hello,

I noticed that yesterday I hope they fix it as soon as possible otherwise it'll be unnecessary to buy a large screen without being able to use it :(

    I guess I didn't recognize because it's only a 6" screen. My TV is 50" and is 1080p lol

I only use downloads on Netflix e. G. on a bus or plane, but at home I watch on ps4/TV...

If it takes 3 months, I might not even bother. But I understand that people want to watch full HD on a full HD+ screen ;)

I just looked at a Netflix vid for guardians of the Galaxy 2. Unless my eyes are really bad the movie was in HD on my phone. Did the latest update come with the improvement or was I faked out on the quality of the video. I'm coming from a Galaxy S8+.

Hopefully reviewers of these devices will now start testing the phones a little more thoroughly before releasing reviews. It seems they have skipped over some pretty big flaws in some other flagships as well which have now come to light.

In fairness to the reviewers ... who would have thought to check some particular application for HD? ... I know I wouldn't ... I checked the quality of the display, photos and videos taken ... maybe a clip or two on YouTube ... all looked good. So assumed it was a given that an HD screen gets HD content ... with all apps.
Why it is not that way ... when the licensing is free ... no idea.

... yes giants ... and the biggest of them ... YouTube ... worked. Not defending anyone here ... just saying that I would have made the same mistake. And yes ... after this **** up ... they (reviewers) probably will look more closely not only at the device but also at the paperwork.

Sorry I edited my post as its getting a little off topic ; hopefully Oneplus sort this issue sooner rather than later so people that do use these services can take advantage of the 5T's screen.

Since OPO actually (as none of oneplus phones had the appropriate licensing) ... and yet no one noticed untill now.

This is poor form from oneplus.

The 5T is a nice device, but there is really something about the behind the scenes side of oneplus (support, customer service, roll out practices etc) that is starting to sour my experience of this phone.

Very close to returning to Google/Samsung, there is more to providing a "flagship killer" phone than just hardware specifications and oneplus needs to drastically improve in these areas and stop treating customers with contempt.

Beggars belief that they are shipping a phone, marketed on its large HD display that cannot play HD content from the major providers.

Regardless of the statement I won't expect a resolution anytime soon.

Sounds like a fob off to me and without a timeline it's meaningless.

I think the solution is quite simple. We all got our phones recently, so we all should contact support with it. 'Sorry but I'd like to return the phone as it doesn't work in HD when watching Netflix or Amazon'. See what's their reply when they get thousand of queries like that.

    I think you're right.

Although going by past experience of One Plus support I won't hold my breathe.

A few thousand tickets hitting the service desk will definitely cause them to take notice though.
