Impressions : OnePlus USB Type-C Adapter

    Subhasis.M , Aug 24, 2015 :
This morning i received the OnePlus USB Type-C adapter that i ordered few days back.
I would like to share my impressions about the same.

Frankly speaking it's just not worth the price tag, like no way ($9.99 / Rs.699).
One can easily buy 5 - 8 (identical) adapters from various 3rd part website for the same price.
The only difference is the red silicon / rubber case provided by OnePlus.

The red case was the only reason i bought the adapter from OnePlus in the first place.
The idea was to attach the adapter to my set of keys (which i carry with me pretty much all the time) but the hook area of the red case is pretty thin (the material
isn't helping either) and i am not very sure if it will hold on for long. I am gonna give it a try nevertheless and hope it survives.

Personally i would not recommend this little accessory (for that price) from OnePlus to anyone.
Sorry OnePlus, i have pretty much bought all the original accessories in multiple numbers for the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 but this one is just not worth the price.

Don't remember exactly but as far as i can recall i bought the original OnePlus One cable for marginally lesser price than this.
It's not a matter of spending $X but
whether the product is really worth that much.

Better than nothing though. I'd rather have that then go to my friends house and not being able to charge.

Thanks for the info. So it is better to just by the usb c lead instead of adapting the micro usb lead.

Yes, few of these adapters are must have for OnePlus 2 users.
I was merely pointing out the price tag it comes with. Thank you.

Can you link some of those adapters you're speaking of? Can't seem to find any with a quick google search. Thanks

More expensive maybe but I wouldn't say its not worth it. No need to be a cheapskate

Well, posting the link here may not be a good idea i guess (likely to be edited my moderators, which is fair enough).
    I have bought 4 of them @ $ 1.5 each + Free shipping.

It's in an accessories thread, should be fine.:p As long as it isn't fraudulent, I guess they'll allow it. :D (I think the only ones not allowed are links to buy OP2 through such sites but I could be wrong.)

And there is the strange thing about leads in the pockets. They always end up multi-knotted.

Just search on any popular auction site for "USB 3.1 Type C Male to Micro USB 2.0 5Pin Female Data Adapter"

Personally I'll still get the OnePlus version :)

Can you put a picture of it on a key ring so I can see what you are talking about?

Talking about the hook/opening area in the red case (refer the image in the original post).
I was initially planning to add it to my set of keys but unfortunately it wont hold for long.

Thanks - maybe if you had a small ring which attached to a larger ring it would be better? A bit like the ring from the SIM ejector tool from the One?

Problem is you can only get packs of those rings in like 100pc. What am I going to do with the other 99? :p
