Hey All,
The past few months of lockdown have been both rewarding and taxing in different ways for everyone around the world. Where, on one hand, we have gotten to spend the majority of the year at home with our families, working from home, on the other hand, it has impacted our health and digital cognizance to an extent. Our phones and devices have increasingly become an extension of ourselves - we check in on them the moment we wake up, stay in their loop the entire day and go to sleep staring at these screens.
Taking a moment to address that, the ambassadors at Student Ambassador Program wanted to shed some more light on how we at OnePlus are working towards a better OS experience which would intrinsically work towards reducing our digital footprint and optimise it further. To get a deeper insight into the changes made to increase digital well-being starting right from the design level to newly introduced features, we had the brilliant opportunity to interview Sam Twist, a Senior Product Manager at OnePlus, working on the new OxygenOS 11.
Starting with his own experience of always being surrounded by technology, he emphasised the huge role of his team's features, such as Zen Mode, in maintaining a healthy relationship with his devices. He is also extremely excited about the new features on OxygenOS 11, like the Parsons AOD feature that they designed with a specific focus on the user's digital well-being. Delving deeper into the design thinking process, he also elaborated on the great attention their team pays to consumer needs through extensive testing of new features and how the team's agility helps them entirely change their approach if the need so arises. Talking to him made us realise the passion and care the OnePlus Product Team puts into crafting new and better changes that make the user experience that much more burdenless than something that weighs you down and makes you less productive. It was amazing to see that these ideas aren't just platitudes but something that really matters for the organisation.
Honestly, it also encouraged some of us who previously hadn't to finally try out the Zen mode for ourselves! This experience was truly transformative in many ways, and we indeed look forward to having more such interactions and gaining deeper insights into what goes on behind the screens!
