    Hello guys:
I'm using a app called NetGuard as a firewall via a local VPN. After I updated to the last beta update with security patch 1. December, I noticed a new app wich traffic was automatically blocked. Screenshot_20180103-224342__01.jpg
It's a system app I never noticed, so I think it's new. I rode something about the clipboard in the update log. Screenshot_20180104-172656__01.jpg
As I look in the WHOIS entry for this ip, I noticed the block is owend by alibaba!!
You can check it yourself if you want. I'm watching the traffic since I got the 3t, and I never saw a system or OnePlus app talking to an alibaba server. So I think OnePlus is selling our clipboard directely from phone to alibaba, with no anonymysation or something...

The answer is NO, data isn't sold. The answers are in the stickied posts below this one.

Looks like there is some official statement. Android Police featured the find of the thread starter (http://www.androidpolice.com/2018/0...clipboard-data-to-alibaba-controlled-servers/) and quotes this:
Haven't found this statement in the forums yet, so it might have been given directly to AP.

Yeah thats very fishy indeed, can you confirm or someone else comfirm that this is present on stable?

If so i'm no legal expert but that sounds pretty illegal in a lot of countries

wow, this is a serious thing.
OnePlus can say anything this time, still, why would the clipboard app send any data to the internet? it should just manage local content and it should especially keep it encrypted and secret

Keep bumping this thread, would be a good idea to post this on the Oneplus Reddit for some traction

Why the f*ck is there a need for a separate clipboard app when the built in one in Android works fine!? STOP MAKING USELESS SH*T AND FIX WHAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN REQUESTING FOR THE LONGEST!

No one asked for a Notes app or icon packs either!

How much data has your Clipboard app used? My phone is suggesting just 37.00KB has been used since 29 Dec, so if it is sending data off to Alibaba he doesn't seem to sending a lot off?

I've now switched off background data on the assumption that will now stop any data leaving my phone.
