Is it really Gorilla glass 5?

Well for those who are gonna reply with " search for an existing thread or something" so yeah i did and i didn't find anything helpful.

Recently i removed the back cover of my phone(mirror black) to just use it without any cover. Earlier i was using the case provided by OnePlus with the phone. Well it's been 2days and today i saw minor scratches on the back panel. they aren't visible normally but under decent lighting i can see few scratches here and there. They're very small but still i can count 4-5 of them. I take care of my phones and didn't even break one ever before but after seeing this i have doubts about the quality OnePlus is providing. They say it's gorilla glass 5 so these minor scratches shouldn't appear unless i dropped it accidentally or a dent type situation. Has anyone faced this issue? Is it covered under manufacturing defect or something??

Sand can easily scratch your GG 5 or 6 , if you are living in developing countries it's very common you can find sand in the dust..

Dust has quartz and the hardness of quartz is 7 so it will make scratches on gorilla glass. If there is dust on your phone and you simply wipe it off with your hands, it will surely make scratches on it.

Try to blow off the dust instead of wiping it off
Then clean it with clean clothes..

Gorilla glass 5 is the same as Gorilla glass 3 in terms of scratch resistance (actually glass 3 could be a little better than 5 in this aspect) but when you drop both of them glass 5 has better chance of survival

Try to blow some air before wiping it off and then clean it with clean clothes..
Be careful the same way for the front screen also..
Use back cover case and good quality tempered glass for screen..
This is what I can advise you..
It's really a big issue in developing countries

Well if you think so then you really need to work on your reading skills. I'm talking about the quality OnePlus is providing and whether it is legit or not. If you think that I didn't know then i can't help you with it. Also post something helpful otherwise don't write useless comments.

So there's nothing i can do?

I too noticed a few scratches on the back of my phone before I applied a skin on it. that's the only thing that will prevent scratches but doesn't provide adequate protection!! so I am using the original cover on top of the skin now [e]1f602[/e]

If you try to clean with dust and there is sand in it, you're gonna scratch any phone on earth, OnePlus is great but its a phone after all, and even with the latest gorilla glass, sand can scratch nearly anything, so dont wipe the phone with excess of dust.

And no, it's obviously not covered under manufacturing defect. There's no manufacturing defect, only good 'ol wear and tear.

Scratches appear if your phone is in touch with a mineral harder than glass.

Same issue here. I literally always use it with a case. I just bought this thing a week ago and I already have scratches on the back. Besides switching it to a different case, I think that's the only time the phone has went naked since I took it out from the box. I really can't wrap my head around this.

The case can also make scratches, if something is stuck between the phone back and the case

I'm pretty sure there's no sand it minerals in the case. I slap it on almost immediately after I got it.
