Right from the beginning of it's release they are ignoring 9R. No proper update , no good intentions to fix existing issues. Now suddenly they are discontinuing for the sake 9RT.

YRJ , Jan 12, 2022 : That is a speculation. Not confirmation. Even if the device is “discontinued” they will only stop manufacturing new 9R's as 9RT is a successor to the 9R . Your device will continue to be supported as per the Software Maintenance Schedule.

As @YRJ mentioned, that article is speculation but more importantly only saying that OnePlus may stop manufacturing the OnePlus 9R, now that the 9RT was announced. Your device will still receive updates and support throughout the promised timeframe.

I am pretty sure situation will worsen in 2022. They will only give security patch update, instead of providing some real upgrades
Gav_W86 , Jan 12, 2022 : The 9R had an update starting on 1st December, that is within the normal update schedule for all OnePlus devices that are in support (which the 9R is). Oxygen OS12 is in testing for the 9R - given the issues following the release of 12 for the 9/9 Pro I would imagine they are making sure that is not repeated for the 9R (and other devices).

After that they are clueless what they are doing. Releasing multiple phones without any reason. OnePlus 7,7 pro, 7T, 7T Pro, Pro 7T, T7...😂
