    Hello Community members,

We know that around 2.5 month back to be exact May 27,2020, oneplus released the Android 10 stable update for oneplus 5/5T after having done the testing with open Beta 1 & 2. They even rolled back the update for few days and then again released the same version.

But the update was far from being stable and was not even usable. So many community member did post the problem and this thread (https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oxygenos-10-0-0-for-the-oneplus-5-and-5t.1231626/) have more than 350+ pages with 90-95% comments being related to problem/bugs in Oneplus 5/5T android 10 update.

    Announcement from oneplus:-

    1. Oneplus did announce the fix in July mid, Now it's almost mid august and there's no update.
    2. Oneplus did gave the reason that due to pandemic the update is delayed. but is the update only delayed for oneplus 5/5T device. i mean oneplus released the updates for other device.

    https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...and-10-5-10-eu-for-the-oneplus-8-pro.1253402/

    and could be many more.

So, my point is did oneplus really struck by this pandemic? I mean they mentioned in one of the Oneplus 5/5T thread that due to pandemic they are delaying the update.

I mean was pandemic only for Op5/5T ? @Carl @Abdul B. Is there any answer to this?
The thread of Oneplus 5/5T is full of community member asking oneplus to atleast address their issue or give them some sort of solution to their issue which makes Op5/5T with android 10 unusable..

And the answer we are getting is "Just report the bugs so that oneplus can fix". i mean what is the point of having Two beta testing if you are providing stable updates full of bugs making normal usage too difficult.

And to add cherry to this Oneplus are sharing "Story behind building the nord". i mean is it that important?

This was not the first time.

Recently Oneplus 5/5T device faced issue related to Oneplus Launcher "showing incompatible in playstore." Many people did rasie the bug but it took more than 2 months for oneplus to solve this issue. But when similar issue was faced with Oneplus NORD AR launch not compatible with oneplus 5/5T and it took max 7-15 days for oneplus to fix it.

Is this coincidence or oneplus really giving up quick support for One plus 5/5T.

    Groundhog Day!

    It's the same every.single.time...

The complaining by the entitlest of brats honourable demanding customers starts weeks before the "promised update is due.

Because moaning is, to certain people, a way of life.

Ofcourse Oneplus fails to live up to expectations, and then this community really gets flooded with threads like these. Because no patience at.all.

There are tons of threads, but of course every "angry customer" needs to ventilate their suffering in their own thread, threatening to never buy a Oneplus device again.

Thus reducing it to a CS extension, (which it is not), it is really killing the community for personal gain. And the rest are left asking why the old members move on...

It gets really, really old

We dont know what is going behind the scenes. But i think as this is an old device their might be a small team working on it, since their focus and priority will be on new devices, the update for older device is delayed.
And i totally agree with you that giving pandemic a reason for this.. is not justified. I mean yes pandemic could be one of the reason but the only reason is not valid.

Bro Latest flagship users of oneplus going to face the same issues as 5/5t users are facing right now but after 2 years. When 5 and 5t launched, 3 and 3t users were complaining about the same things as they were completely ignored by oneplus. So 5 and 5t users are in oneplus end game now n 6 and 6t users are next[e]1f602[/e][e]1f602[/e]

It totally makes sense if they are giving the reason of delay as covid pandemic, in sure they must be short on staffs so they are prone to prioritise the newer models and push the 5/5T as the last priority on developing releases/Bugs.

That's how the industry works More importance of the available team during this period will be focussed on latest series only .

Life comes a full circle. I'm sure when OP 5/5T was newer, those who were using older Gen OP phones would be equally fuming at the lack of support which they were receiving, as compared to newer ones. I guess we will just have to live with the fact that we are at the mercy of OP staff, and they will be giving lowest priority to OP 5/5T as this is oldest generation which is receiving Android 10.

I agree to whatever u've written; just that it is futile to raise a concern since we know they will only do it when they want to do it. Yes, releasing a so called stable version with so many bugs, that too after 2 beta updates is criminal but then again their priorities will lie elsewhere. I guess it's time to acknowledge that, regardless of the specs in OP 5/5t, our phones are old.
    Peace!

I think they didn't give importance to oneplus 5/5T user for providing the latest updates .This is one of the STRATEGY to push their users to buy their recently launched OnePlus phones .This is called as MARKETING ....

If only moderators did their job in update threads, those threads wouldn't be that crappy saturated with trash these days. And if one deletes the last 100 pages in this one for example

    https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...-for-the-oneplus-7-pro-and-oneplus-7.1232394/

or all of them, this forum will lose nothing useful, cuz any precious feedback ever existed there....

The most worrying part is oneplus have started making false claim... If this remain for longer time then i don't see any new oneplus device in my home.

I've installed A10 on my OP5, though there are hell lot of bugs right now but it doesn't make my device unusable.

Where you have waited for months, it is just a matter of weeks.
It is better to have a stable update later than a buggy one too soon. Not every expectation get fulfills on time.

They should Just stick to providing security updates if they don't have team that is capable of delivering stable updates.
Please don't give any future feature updates if OnePlus don't have enough resources to work on them. A stable build is much better than buggy updates.
Just update the version number if that would satisfy people asking here for feature updates.

I think the brag that oneplus has been making by providing 3 major update is just filthy.

Other brands provide 2 updates but they don't intentionally black mail the user to buy new device like @Carl is planning along with @Abdul B.

    Stop bragging it

Now that it is getting a bit personal, let me bring in the reality. As per few covid cases counter website China is almost narrowed the number of active cases, their cases has gone down drastically.

According to worldometer (link given below) China had total of 80000 cases as on March 3, 2020.

As on 7th aug 2020 total number of cases in china is 84528.

I mean in 6 months total new cases in china is 4528 approx. Which is almost small number as compared to other countries like USA / INDIA / RUSSIA which report more than 40000+ cases daily and they are still working either from office or home.

So the reason given by oneplus doesn't match with the above number. Either the Chinese govt is not giving correct number or oneplus is hiding behind this. So @Carl @Abdul B.
Come out from your comfort zone and stop lying to the user who built this community. @Carl i guess you/your team will not get Covid for replying to user problem by sitting home. Its a high time you have mouth to speak.

Yeah, let's blame the volunteering members who don't get paid for the misbehaviour of members that just can't be civilised and a company that hides behind a wall of silence when things turn sour.

    Great Idea.

    Keep it civilised lads..
