Is the refresh rate on OnePlus 9 Pro adaptive?? via OnePlus 9 Pro

    Hi,

I have observed that the refresh rate on OnePlus 9 pro just switches between 120Hz and 60Hz. The minimum the refresh rate has ever reached was 60Hz that too on apps such as YouTube/Gboard. But OnePlus advertised that the display can refresh as low as 1Hz. When does it happen? NEVER.

The refresh rate is stuck to 120Hz when on home screen.

It is stuck to 120Hz when viewing an image in Gallery

It changes to 60Hz in only these situations

This is what OnePlus has advertised in their launch event

Is this the issue with Oxygen OS 12 or has it been like this on Oxygen OS 11 also.

PS: I don't know if this might be an issue with the refresh rate indicator in developer options. If it is please let me know.

PS: Also on updating to Oxygen OS 12 we have lost the hyper touch option. Will it make a re entry or are we losing functionalities with updates when we are supposed to gain new features.

There is no tool to detect the actual refresh rate on OOS. The tool that shows the refresh rate you have shown is merely limited in what it can show which is either 60hz or 120hz. It would require a different tool. I have seen something used in the 10 Pro videos but am not sure what they use to measure the varying refresh rate. Might be one to look up.

As for Hypertouch, you may need to contact the developers via the Feedback Tool to let them know and to request reintroduction of this feature.

But isn’t that what is shown the rpm? That’s different from refresh rate.

Yes there is a difference between Hz and FPS.
However, while refresh rate is similar to fps, it’s not the same thing. Refresh rate is tied to the monitor itself, while the frame rate is how quickly information is sent to your monitor by your graphics processor.
    https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/refresh-rate-smartphone-screen-explainer/

In this case take the phone screen as your monitor and SOC graphics for Graphics processor.

Exactly……and I think the easiest or simplest way to measure refresh rate is with a high speed camera. There is no software to do so I think as it would just give the number that is given to the monitor to operate and not measuring anything….

edit, or an oscilloscope but you’d need to take the phone apart.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I'm seeing the same on Android 12 (I've only just been given the update to the latest version, have been on 11 until now).
In Android 11, the refresh rate definitely changed. If it was set to 120hz, it would vary. I'd seen as low as 24 on the AOD.
It would usually be around 60hz unless I scroll then it jumps to 120hz.
Now, it's always at whatever I set - 60hz or 120hz. It doesn't reduce at all. Certainly never has been down to 1hz like the launch info suggested.

Please send Bug reports and give Feedback on the issue back to the OnePlus OOS developers. So that they can investigate them.

Read the previous answers. There is no tool currently available to show an LTPO panel going down to lower than 60hz. It's just not possible.

So your idea it doesn't is quite frankly twaddle.

Actually it is quite possible, I have seen many videos where they demonstrate dynamic refresh rate. It actually went as low as 10Hz. U can just search for OnePlus 10 pro reviews on YouTube.

Actually I have seen the refresh rate changing to 60Hz on the OnePlus 8 running COS12. So, I don't know why it isn't working on 9 pro.
