No they aren't. Mine (EE) isn't locked to any carrier.
Please do research before you defend this company.

Even if pick to show is a great feature,I believe it's not the one that most of the users are looking for(including myself). The effort is appreciated but it's a persistent step again in the wrong direction.Seems that OnePlus is kinda obsessed with some certain things. When I found myself using pick up to show in the past, my battery was heavily drained during the day and I was getting annoyed by having to pick up the phone all the time to see my notifications. Also I was getting accidental touches. With all that being said,I believe the true always on display is the right approach of a feature lacking and most requested. Why must other manufacturers have this feature years ago and not a reputable company like oneplus?I think nowadays OnePlus has the resources and correct mindset to try implementing a true AOD feature and will please many fans/future customers.

It's all fun and games till 8 is released.

Then the 7 guys will join our "alone at the corner" club.

It's not that bad though xD

I change phone every year though... Waiting on 8 Pro [e]1f609[/e].
If I ever use a phone that long that if even stops receiving update (I highly doubt it though) I'd go for Lineage OS.
I personally think Oneplus do a rather good job considering the amount of phones released. Could be better though.

I am using OnePlus 7T, on this phone also same problem exists. Additionally "Tap the screen to show" option also not working for me. please look on it.

Its not supposed to! Lock screen wallpaper is not part of Ambient Display. Wallpaper would use more power

Not sure why this is even a focus. The phone wakes up maybe 60-70% of the time I pick it up, but even if it doesn't it's not that hard to just tap the screen to wake up the ambient display.

Now what I DO miss from my Samsung phone is the Always On Display. So convenient to be able to check the time and notifications while it is sitting on a table without having to touch the phone. That along with Pocket Mode, which turns off the screen when it is in your pocket so the AOD doesn't drain the battery. The AOD on Samsung phones moves around so it doesn't cause burn-in.

Just something to keep in mind that the AOD is considerably better than the Ambient Display.

You have a great device in your hands! If you can get rid of the contract, go for some Custom ROM. There's plenty out there with constant development.
