    yonoshiro , Sep 14, 2014 :
    Good day esteemed members.

As stated in the title supra, I received my Rearth Ringke Fusion case today.

I had read previously that the crystal version of the case was plagued by quality control issues as to the fit of the case, whereas the smoke version fit perfectly. I was a bit worried about this as I had ordered the crystal version on the 2nd day of September, when it first became available on Amazon.

It turns out that my fears were unfounded. The case fit perfectly with no gaps on the sides. I believe that only a few batches were affected.

As you can see in the picture above, the case fits very nicely. All ports, microphones, etc, are lined up nicely and all cutouts are clean. The buttons are covered but are still easily pressed.

The case itself is constructed of a crystal clear polycarbonate hard backing and a softer TPU bumper around all sides of the device. The case adds a small amount of bulk but not significantly so. Besides, this is a worthy tradeoff for the superior drop protection that this case offers.

There is also a small lip to the case that offers protection to the screen when placed facedown.

Now to the fun part :).
The back of the case is designed in such a way that by using the provided template, you can cut out designs and place them in the back of the case to suit your aesthetic needs. For example, these are a few templates that I made.

At first I was concerned that the crystal clear backing would get scratched over time from being placed and/or dragged on desks, counters, etc. However, Rearth thoughtfully placed four nubs, one on each corner of the backing, that raises the phone off of whatever surface it has been placed upon.

I also feared that the polycarbonate back would be very slippery and indeed it is to a certain extent. Luckily however, the TPU sides are satisfactorily grippy that the smooth back is a non-issue. Rearth also generously provided a lanyard hole on the bottom left hand side of the case, for those who are so inclined to use it.

All in all, this is an excellent case from the folks at Rearth. The level of detail in the design and craftsmanship of the case is clearly evident. I recommend this case highly with one caveat: there may still be a few cases with the poor QC floating around online. That said. It is well worth the risk :).

I'm getting this (As soon as I get an invite) Thanks for posting. I am one of the few people left on the planet that couldn't survive without a lanyard.

This is really cool, but wish Rearth would make case band on there cases better. Like a metal band with clear back or something. I would buy this case because of the plastic sides.

Got the smoked one. Looks like a monster compared to my G3 with original flip cover.
