Keyboard problems OP 8Pro after android 12 via OnePlus 8 Pro

  1. Carlos Laureano , via OnePlus 8 Pro , May 4, 2022 :
My keyboard stops working all of the sudden after I upgraded to Oxygen OS 12. Basically the keyboard doesn't come out when trying to type. I need to restart my phone for me to be able to use it again. Also, sometimes there is a glitch whenever you unlock the phone. Not to mention that the screen rotates out of nowhere...

Hi, it's possible that after a major update you would need to do a factory reset. Back up your data (except the apps) to the cloud or a pc first.

Second this keyboard issue. It's across all apps including whatsapp. It's not all the time, usually after the phone has been running for a couple of hours at least. I press on the bar to type and the keyboard just does not appear. Factory resets are incredibly impractical for most people. This is an issue Oneplus needs to be aware of and resolve.

Yup. I agree. A reset is not doable for me.

Also if anyone from OnePlus actually reads these - the issue is only temporarily resolved after restarting the phone, but it has recurred several times since the upgrade.

Same here. It isn't a permanent solution.

Same here and agree. Don't want to go through factory reset neither. Across various apps - even the OP community app... One PLus, can we get this solved asap please ? Extremely frustrating !

A partial fix is go ti settings - apps - Locatel gboard and clear cache and data. But the problema persist at time.

I've installed later gboard beta and, actually, I hace not any problem...

Exactly. I am not going to do a factory reset, I will buy a phone from a competitor first. If I have to do a factory reset, it will be when I am trading in my phone.

Exactly the same here on my oneplus8t, ever since the update when it's been on for several hours I can't get to the keyboard, have to restart to get it back. When is the fix coming?

Same problem here with my OP9. I'm having this issue for about a year now, with Gboard and Swiftkey aswell. I have to force stop both apps every time I get this problem. So frustrating, I've been experimenting with settings, but I couldn't find any permanent solution either. If this situation continues with no official response, added to the many other bugs that the ui has, this will probably be my first and last Oneplus phone.
