While this TWRP release for the 3/3T is technically a UnOfficial TWRP build, it's basically the latest official test build with all latest included fixes for formating issues with ~ encryption/decryption F2FS & EXT4 fs when using the latest Official release of TWRP recovery build 3.2.3-1.

Build by the Official TWRP recovery maintainer for the 3/3T, shared within XDA Official TWRP thread (link below) for further testing.

Fixes included * To reserve crypto footer across format data

    Lemme just supersede that https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...development/unofficial-enhanced-twrp-t3926864

I don't even know why there are crypto footer issues on the op3 btw. I've maintained op2 for such a long time and not a single complaint about a bad crypto footer

Seem within Official TWRP 3.3.0-1 the standard Nandroid backup option of /System partition is broken, making it unable to boot the device after a restore anyways, thus requiring a System image backup in place of it.

How are Nandroid backup functions working on the linked recovery?

Both lineageos and oxygenos seem to append dm-verity metadata to the system image which you can only restore with a system image backup

I'm not so concerned about file based backups for system because these will just remove the metadata and cause even more issues

Imagine this: a user takes a file based backup of unmodified oxygenos (or glassrom) and then tries some modifications
The user then decides to switch back and restores this
Now since both the above ROMs support booting on locked bootloaders I can only imagine a catastrophic failure occuring. It might be recoverable with twrp but going forward system image seems to be a more "compliant to standards" backup
