Most companies try their best to prevent unauthorized access and they do a great job in preventing the physical threat but Wireless world or WiFi’s are not treated in the same way. A company might use the fingerprint scanner to enter its building but a hacker might penetrate into their servers by just using a not-so-secure Wi-Fi network. Well here’s a list of things you can do to secure your Wireless network.

    1. Use Stronger Encryption
WEP helps you to share WiFi key but there are plenty of attacks available for the same. A hacker can get into your WEP enabled network within a few minutes. WPA3 is the best and strongest type of encryption available right now. But if your Wifi router doesn’t support WPA3, WPA2 can also be used. The simple logic is WEP is dead, WPA is old, WPA2 is common yet stronger and WPA3 is the best but isn’t available in the market.

    1. Hide SSID
Imagine relatives coming over and asking for your Wifi password. Hiding SSID or hiding names can be a good option. Logically they won't ask for passwords if they can’t find a network. Prevention is better than cure. It's better to hide your network from hackers than to work on the aftermaths.

    1. Use Secure Password
I won't go over this topic much since we all know that we need a password which has more than 8 characters, contains numbers, alphabets, symbols and special characters. Ever since KRACK Wi-Fi Flaw was discovered, its possible to crack WPA2 passwords but a stronger password will grab years of time to crack them.

    1. Changing Admin Credentials
It is important to change administration credentials to make sure the settings provided in above steps aren’t changed. Change administrator username and passwords right away.

    1. MAC Authentication Filtre
An advance option to secure your WiFi network is to enable MAC authentication i.e. to provide a list of mac address to the router that can connect to it. This is the last step and can be termed as the cure for the problem. Even if someone hacks your password and has it, boom! Cannot connect to the network without spoofing mac which is a big task.
