    Hi everyone,

Just got out of a support chat as I have not yet bought the device but would really like to as soon as possible.

I know someone has done this previously but thought it would help to have another support agent confirming it was software related. See my screenshots from the conversation below.

Daniel was very helpful and seemed to confirm there was a fix coming and it was a software update.

I’ve only posted a couple of times here so I don’t know if the images I’ve attached will work but let me know if there are any issues!:)

if there is a software problem, why does oneplus not communicate this in a statement? that would reassure many customers

    Thank you for sharing these.

And save them! In case the whole thing turns out for the worst case scenario, you can always point that out if you eventually want to return the device.

exactly.. why is it that a SALES PERSON knows, but not the many people here in the community, asking, investigating and helping out the OP team??

I will most definitely be saving these. In theory they should honour what employees say while representing their company or include a clause that states otherwise.

Hoping this is just software as I cannot wait to get my hands on the OP7 Pro!

    Agree with this whole heartedly.

I’m only going ahead with my purchase as I have this in writing if it hits the fan and cannot be fixed and my current phone is quite literally falling to pieces.

There’s not been any direct statement that I can find anyway qualifying whether it is a software or hardware issue from OnePlus. Let’s be honest that every prospective buyer or someone facing the issue would feel a lot better if it was just out there.

Maybe they think that a fix is imminent and will be made as soon as it can be or maybe they know it’s something more serious and are treading carefully to avoid a PR disaster!

Hello, bought this phone on 05.25, and had no issues at all, no ghost touches what so ever. Although I too still using the firmware that came with the phone. Since after reading about ghost touch problems I saw somebody suggesting it was a firmware problem, so i opted to not update it, and as it seems that can be the problem. The tests that I tried to reproduce the problem are as follows(everything is done with NFC on since I'm leaving it on):
    1. Keep CPUZ running for 5 mins
    2. Run Touch Screen Tester for 5 mins
    3. Keep CPUZ running while transfering a file via Android Beam (dont have any nfc tags to test otherwise)
All tests did not create any ghost touches. Also havent seen a single ghost touch with normal use.

OS Version: 9.5.1.GM21BA, Phone built Date: 2019.05.03. Going to wait for official statement from OP before updating the OS

Ok all, I can confirm that on 9.5.1 there are no ghost touches, only a green light behind the screen that is flickering (proximity sensor). I tried it in a phone store in the Netherlands. will post video later

The flickering is present for me only in CPUZ, so no big problem with that, ran a proximity sensor test, working as it should

I had ghost touches issue in CPU-Z NFC ON 90 Hz refresh rate. After full factory reset can't see any ghost touches so , must be software bug . But I' ve found another bug meanwhile testing this ... when I start recording screen settings on refresh rate drops from 90 Hz to 60 Hz and after stop recording automatically switch back to 90Hz... I can switch manuals to 90Hz and continue with recording .Don't know if it's only system notify or is even possible record 90hz video screen capture ? Somebody similar experience ?

I got an email from Oneplus this morning asking for logs, and I've provided them with logs recreating the issue. I'm a developer, although I've never touched low level android stuff, and had a quick flick through but couldn't see anything obvious. It's my personal phone so I'm not going to upload the logs publicly, but if any developers with experience want to have a look then let me know and I'll send them privately.

I have just contacted the support via the live chat, first they said their devices have no issues, and after threathening him that I'll cancel my order they said it's a software glitch and they are aware of the reports, and that they have faith in their team. Honestly, I think thay the company has failed miseribly in communication, and them growing deaf made me think that this is a last time I am buying a phone from Oneplus. We pay a lot of money for a phone that turns to be a really pain in the ***, and they don't have at least the decency of telling us the truth in the face!

Here you can see that on 9.5.1 opening CPU-Z with NFC enabled does not causes ghost touches. Instead, a green flickering light can bee spotted (probably proximity sensor). this confirms earlier reports that the issue is not present on earlier builds.

edit: btw, enjoy the music , lol.
