I have Ghost Touch. Seems app related in some way, seems to happen more often with Facebook than any other app.

Cpu-z with NFC enabled made my phone go bonkers.

I only have it in CPUz and yes, I use NFC, Instagram, and other apps that supposedly have the issue. I also have show touches enabled in developer options just in the event I'm missing the issue

this is on the T-Mobile version with T-Mobile software

I've asked a few people having the chinese global version GM1910. They are not facing so much problem and most of them don't have this issue at all.
Do you guys think that different models could be the reason?

But turning off NFC doesn't cause any problem. Right?

no, it doesn't, not at all. Especially not when talking about complex interactions between hardware and software in small devices cramped full with different chips and sensors. That's not how this works.

It still looks like a shielding or design issue to begin with, where the issues only get triggered with certain software drivers and/or configuration of those said sensors/chips. If it is a pure software issue, it would be very hard to trigger such ghost touches and very easy to fix, but it isn't. Something needs to enabled or to facilitate those ghost touches, most likely through interference through electric-magnetic disturbances of several hardware chips badly shielded and close together... which is very hard to fix in software as it is a hardware design problem.

I am not saying that OP will not be able to solve the issue with a software fix, but in the end, this will only be a mitigation, a software workaround and not a real fix. The problem might pop up again later after any other software update.

That's why I am still really hesitant to buy the OP 7 Pro and waiting for OP to come out about it with a honest explanation before making that purchase.

if it is hw related, why do I haven't the problem on the is version 9.5.1?

before the update, nobody had the problem because it's not present on the 9.5.1 version.

I believe if it's hardware it should happen with 9.5.1 too. It started only after 9.5.4 update. So, it's a software issue and I hope Oneplus comes up with explanation

Its a software problem.. please, follow this whole chain of posts to have clear picture.. OS 9.5.1 does not suffer from Ghost touches even with NFC on..

Did you even read my post? The bug appearing in only a few specific firmwares is NOT prove at all that it is a pure software problem. It most likely a specific driver (software) triggering a shielding issue (hardware) which should not exist in the first place.

In fact, Derple's post about flashing a 3rd party kernel with the touch screen memory leak fix not solving the issue confirms this.

Anyway, all we can do is speculate about the cause of the issue until someone with deep knowledge of the device (OP) comes out and explains it.

But the fact that OP is not making any statement at all about the issue and hasn't released a fix yet (after all you tell me all it needs is a easy software fix) makes me wonder how severe the issue is in reality.

Really wish we could get some update on this situation. I don't personally use NFC, but I'd still expect there to be no issue with it out of the box. As a first time OnePlus buyer coming from a Pixel XL, it's leaving a sour taste in my mouth. Otherwise, I've enjoyed the phone. Debating whether or not to start a return and hold onto my Pixel just a bit longer..

EDIT: At a bare minimum, I'd like to hear something from OnePlus about whether or not for sure it would be covered under warranty if it is indeed a hardware issue. I'm sure it would be, but confirmation would be nice.

I completely understand you. When the Pixel 2 XL came out, I was really interested in buying it but as Google was unable to fix the notorious "start camera - device reboots" issue even after many months, I went to look for an alternative and found the OP3T. Never regretted the purchase and still using the device, best phone I have used so far.

The OP7 is now the logical successor for my 3T but I will not spent 700$ for a device which might have a hardware flaw.

I still believe in OP being one of the best android smartphones manufacturer out there for the moment with fantastic software and support and hoping the ghost touches situation will be resolved quickly.

If I'm to be honest, the Pixel 2 XL was made by LG and with as much shit I've heard about them I'd rather stay far away from it. Seems like every time LG tries to make a Nexus/Pixel device they screw it up one way or another. The other manufacturer that makes Google devices is HTC, which is pretty solid. Was stoked when I found out HTC was making the Pixel XL because of how solid my One M8 was, and they didn't disappoint.
