My issue seemed to be worse when I was using a third party charge and minijack cable. I downloaded a voltage and amp monitor, connected cable direct and recoded the figures. I then compared these numbers when using the charge and earphone cable. The figures were a lot lower and not as stable. I will investigate more

I'm not experiencing that at all. While scrolling on 3rd party apps such as Instagram or Chrome, I often slide my thumb across the screen and the distance of swipes is very small (less than 5mm); all my swipes are registered and scrolling is super smooth. I've compared this with my iPhone 6s (which now looks laggy) and I can see no difference in touch sensitivity.

If people are experiencing such issues, I would suggest you do a factory reset, download & install the official update (depending on your region) via provided links:

    OxygenOS 9.5.7 Full Zip
    GM21AA (GM1911: India & GM1917: Global/US Unlocked)
    Official
    MD5: 53e71fc8720eb42085599ef27af0c5e3

    GM21BA (GM1913: EU)
    Official
    MD5: a0c984211445ddbcbce7df76de10c0c4

If you still find problem with touch sensitivity, it could be some other issue.

Just updated to 9.5.7 using German VPN trick and no more ghost touches in CPU-Z with NFC ON. Great job OnePlus and community, thank you all!

UPDATE: Just moved from 9.5.1 to 9.5.7 and I have noticed zero changes in display sensitivity or scrolling. This was worrying me but the phone continues smooth as butter.

Opening notifications or drawer is as easy as ever. I specifically tested this about 30 times each, and I barely need to move my finger at all. Naturally, no ghost touches, though I hadn't experienced those at all this far.

Will continue using it and will come back with any relevant updates.

Hope this makes some people more at ease.
    Cheers

subject: Phantom touches persist in 9.5.7.GM21BA

    Hi,

Prior to the installation of 9.5.7.GM21BA I experienced ghost touches. When I performed the update, the ghost touches clearly were gone when opening CPU-Z. However when using TomTom Go for Android on the OnePlus 7 pro, the phantom touches reappeared. I turned on the visual feedback on tabs under developers options to see where "the phantom was touching". It appears to be in the center of the screen in the top, just at the area to tap for sending the ETA of your trip to someone. I noticed the phantom touches because it opened the sharing screen while driving. Anyone else still experiencing these touches?

I have to say that it now rarely occurs so it is much much better than it was previously.

thanks for all of your support!

I still notice them. Mine happened in Google maps and it kept hitting the Google assist button. Top right. Again, very few and not consistent, but I still get them.

those on 9.5.7 with ghost touch still need to report it to OnePlus so they don't think it's been fixed and stop working on it

No one has been able to explain why every phone before 9.5.7 didn't have ghost touches especially OP. I've had two 7 pro's with ghost touches. Pro 3 has had 9.5.5 and 9.5.6 and has never had a ghost touch. After a week of constant use the phone is super fast and I'm enjoying the two button gesture. The negative is the camera which certainly isn't a flagship camera.

Just got the response back from support. It seems it's not fully corrected yet:

"In regards to your query, we have received limited reports users describing their encounter of phantom taps (ghost touch) experience. our team worked hard to identify these cases and we will release a firmware update in the upcoming weeks."

I can but I use it daily for Google Pay and that's not really the point. The phone should operate as designed.

I didn’t experience them until after the latest update. Now it just goes haywire occasionally and I have to restart the phone to make them stop. So annoying.....
