Let's Discuss – OnePlus 7 Pro Build and Display.

    Build:
I love that it feels premium because of:
    - Extremely Clicky and Tactile buttons
    - Polished Metal Finish on the Sides

However, I really dislike the fact that OnePlus has switched over to glass backs. There are no real advantages for having glass backs unless the phones feature wireless charging imo.

    Display:
    I love:
    - The incredibly smooth experience the 90Hz Refresh Rate offers
    - The boosted resolution finally allows me to watch content beyond FHD.

    I dislike:
    - Curved Edges: it's extremely impractical because good quality tempered glass is hard to find for curved displays and the curved edges don't offer any utility as of now. Hope notification lights become a thing soon.
    - Size: Although I'm used to it now, I would've preferred to have a display that's slightly smaller because at times and especially during the first impressions the phone felt massive.

As a person who is very good not dropping my phone on anything hard, I'm happy with the durability of the glass. But like a normal person I am, I have dropped my other phones from medium hight and have not scratch the glass. But I would be happy with a protection for the glass just in case it landed from higher up or something on the ground.

    but that's just my opinion...

For me, build quality / display and in hand feel are paramount to my experience with a phone, these form the foundation of a good device with everything else being built up on top of this. If the foundation isn't nailed then I'll never truly love a phone.

The Pro nails these all for me. The only gripe I have is with the physical size, I have large hands but I'm definitely no size queen - I find the tallness of the display a bit too much. I'd like to see a smaller version with all the same bells and whistles.

One thing I did not think I'd enjoy was the weight - however I actually really like the extra weight, it gives the phone a more "well put together" feel.

Finally, as much as I enjoy the colour options glass backed phones provide - I really don't like them and miss the days of metal phones. I'm terrified of ever dropping any phone with glass "everything" in case it all shatters. Because of this I always put a skin or case on my phone so I can grip or better, thus negating any colour benifits the glass back brings.

I loved the display but I am little concerned about the built quality. I purchased Oneplus 7 Pro nebula blue. I put the cover that came in the box. When I removed the cover I noticed some of the paint on the side trim got damaged and also on the back glass I noticed a shadow inside the glass when i put it against light. I looked carefully but there is no scratch on the glass. I am not sure what is creating the shadow. I am attaching the pics along to understand better.

I personally don't like the curved display because it cause distortion but its still better than S10+ display with no punch hole or notch.
meanwhile, I have an issue with my OnePlus 7 pro because it heats up pretty quickly, is that normal? its around 35° to 38° celcius when I'm watching videos and downloading apps..I though the 10 layer cooling would help but I find it useless and don't help as much as they advertised during the launched date..

when i bought my op 6 , i thought i made biggest mistake .. was big for me.. at the beggining now.. beside this new phones he seams smaller than new galaxy plus huawei and others.. i tried to sell in first weeks without any succes without lose to much money with that purchase so i stick with him.. if was a 5'8 - 6 " inch screen i think was perfect device.. but next time the size will matter in my decision..

    Hi One Plus team,

I really loved the display on one plus 7 pro....My first flagship mobile so I would remember this mobile for long time...Mesmerizing 90hz refresh rate..Many are complaining about the curved edges but I loved them personally...they might be distracting at times while watching videos but overall I loved it... I loved the screen size 6.67 inches which provides me cinematic viewing special mention about stereo speakers well implemented. though not the loudest still provide more than required for the situation. I stopped watching movies on my laptop rather I started watching movies on mobile. Colors look great and vibrant...

    couple of things to improve
    1. Adaptive brightness : At times while watching videos it suddenly reduces the brightness dunno the reason. Should off the adaptive brightness and on it again to get the optimal brightness.
    2. Expected the display to be little more bright under direct sunlight..

i personally don't mind the curved edge display, its works fine for me.

I reiterate the person before me, the adaptive display feature could use a little tweaking, it does dim itself randomly.

    Otherwise, I'm loving this phone!

typed a pretty long response but didn't get through. anyway:

    like
the sheer quality and sharpness of the screen. held a oppo Reno 10x in the store today because I was tempted by the flat screen while still in the return period ( not a fan of curved) but good lord it's a few steps behind the OnePlus7Pro for sure. in fact for such a large screen I think quad HD is almost required. the difference surprised me because initial reviewers of the oppo seem to skip over it. anyway might not matter to most but big deal for me. in combination with the 90hz it works so well together. the sharpness and 90hz by itself sound like mere nice to haves or gimmicks but when you put it all together it's more than the sum of its parts to me in combination with the great software ( one other thing that put me off the oppo) .
build; great , heavy which I like ( I have big hands) and very sturdy. one thing I will say about the curved edges is that they make the phone easier to hold, I was actually struggling a bit with the oppo. silent / vibrate switch on the side of the phone is brilliant.

    dislikes
really only the curved edges. there are advantages to it but coming from a galaxy s8 I would rather not have seen them again. almost made me return the op7pro but got used to it and it's not that big of a deal unless you're pixel peeping ( and that will highlight faults in any phone)

in summary id rather have a premium quality screen with curves than "just" a good quality ( as in the oppo ) one which is flat. maybe helpful for some as I see quite a lot of people citing the curves as a dislike ( and rightfully so)

now if only OnePlus would add functionality to the edges so that they would actually DO something...that would ease the annoyance for me.

when the customer completely get disappointed. He will end the product. This is how the taste would be. No use of chatting with one plus support. They just send all automated messages.

i absolutely love the display and the size of the phone! also there is the right amount heft for its size!
the only two things which bother me, are the rounded edges (a lot of glare when any light hits it) and the fact, that the alert slider is to lightly balanced. everytime i put the phone in m pocket i accidentally change its position and therefore the sound profile :/
