Tell me about it. I hate listening to streamed BT music. Sounds like plastic.

APTX is supported with root, and I think in latest open betas. However, it's still lossy compression. It's better than older protocols, but still lossy, so we agree.

And the cost of the jack isn't the issue as much as the space I think.

"Nitpick." Your whole post was one sentence. It's hard to call questioning the implications of that one sentence "nitpicking." Why is the headphone jack "useless?" It has one of the most clear uses of any part of the phone.

The first phone I had with a proper stereo jack was 15 years ago. Shortly afterwards we got bluetooth and I haven't used one since. Jacks for phones should have disappeared with telephone switchboard operators.

aptX is a gimmick. aptX HD is where it's at. The almost doubling of the bitrate really helps. Too bad the headphone selection is slim pickings. Production should ramp up with the release of Android O.,

It's still lossy compression. I don't find the cable to be a problem

So we can have shitty music and extra batteries in the headphones and huge latencies?

That little cable is that bad

Who's disputing that? Not I. I'm just saying it's a damn good option for Bluetooth headsets.

If they release a Bluetooth 5.0 Exclusive codec that's capable of handling a 1.3Mbps lossless audio track without transcoding loss will that suffice?

As for you, there are USB-C to 3.5 Adapters available. I'm not sure if they work with the 3T.

I see no reason to ditch the headphone jack. My phone stays within reach, so I see no reason for wireless.

USB C option is always there, even if they keep the headphone jack. Its not a reason for or against. USB only means you can't easily charge while listening but it makes waterproofing easier

I use it at least once every other day. It's also nice to have a uniform, wired solution that I can use when my phone is plugged into a battery bank.

How exactly do you add AptX support just by having your phone rooted? Or is there a zip to flash I don't know about?

There are probably many methods. What you want to do is get the aptx library onto your system partition. That requires root and you can no longer OTA.

Easiest method is using Magisk to root (since it hides root and allows Pay and Snapchat to work) and then you just use the Magisk app to find and install the AptX Magisk Module, then reboot.

    I found a way in XDA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/themes/mod-aptx-codec-t3521228
Just have to flash a few zip.
Thanks because I thought it may never come!
