You can...you have to move the camera so you can see that it doesn't appear.

I think if it's hardware related, you will have to find a position where it doesn't happen unfortunately.

Unfortunately you're not going to get the same outcome like the pixel 2 when shooting directly at the sun.

Only huge expensive lenses don't have those aberrations while pointing to a light source.
And they just minimize them, they don't avoid them.

Do you really think that DLSRs don't have lens flare issues??

that's a shame because except this aberration the shot is not bad.
I mean they really improved the software on Oreo

    Lens flares happen.

if you're going to worry about that when talking photos, get a DSLR. (Which will also have lens flares if they get hit directly with bright sun)

And you know... lens flares can be an expensive plugin for photo editing apps -- so you got a good one for free!

I love the lens flares and try to position the cam to make it more artistic.

this is a thread on lens flare and not on camera bashing.
one more thing which I have noticed is that only people from India are whining abt camera issues continuously in other threads too...

You're right. There is nothing wrong with the camera quality on OnePlus phones. But people think a camera does everything for them, however, you need skill to shoot great photos.
