In this world of massive advancements showing up overnight, our smartphones are getting outdated faster than ever before. OEMs only keep their phone so long and, for those that like to keep their phones running for as long as possible and who love to ride the latest Android, the makers of the custom ROMs are a godsend.

The Custom ROM scene isn't what it used to be. Last month, Dirty Unicorns, one of the popular custom ROMs, announced they were shutting down, a sad thing to see and a sign of how most people moved away from Custom ROMs. It was indeed a bummer.

But fret not! Lineage OS, perhaps the most well-known ROM and a popular name for OnePlus users, is back with Lineage OS 18.1, that will breathe Android 11 to as many as 60 phones from the first release! There is a high likelihood you'll find your phone in this list if you made a good purchase decision back then. Be it OnePlus phones, the Nexus, the Pixels, the LGs and so on.

The Official Lineage OS18.1 brings us many of Android 11's features like the all-new notification channels and bubbles, new media controls, better privacy protections, the latest emojis to name a few. Also included in this release are their custom features like the enhanced recorder, music app, an all-new calendar, pan-OS dark mode, data backup solution catered to, by SeedVault. Check out the complete change log to know more one the features and the complete set of devices supported

Chop chop, what are you waiting for! Get going onto flashing this onto your device(s), using the Lineage official guides here.

As I head out to flash this on my OnePlus phones, go ahead and tell us and maybe even show us, what phones you are flashing it on! Show-off time, fellas! May the Lineage's Force be with you :)

Flashed a few hours after it was live. Still no accounts added, but everything seems to be working a-ok!

As much as I like the idea of custom ROMs, I feel like there's too much risk of something goes wrong.

For those of you who are going to jump on that, good luck and enjoy! Maybe I'll grab an old Nexus and experiment a little.

I haven't bricked any device beyond salvation in all my time experimenting with Custom ROMs, from the HTC Desire back in 2010 till now.

Well, there is no fun in rooting unless you brick a device.

I bricked my Xperia SP and it's a paperweight now.
Also, I like how you want to live in present with thoughts of the past.
