I just updated to the newest version (OTA) of CM11S and now, I just get a screen saying "Low battery, the battery is too low. Charge for a while before power on!".
My OnePlus One is plugged in, I can't tell though if it is charging.

Happened to me when battery got too low and phone died. Plugged it in and it showed this message. Powered it on after a few minutes without issue. Have not received the ota yet though

Are you charging your device via usb plugged into a computer or through a charging adapter through the wall?

Sounds like it's probably the battery. Have you tried removing the battery then putting it back in?

It's not user-serviceable. To remove the battery you have to break the white security screw at the top right, which means that you'll void your warranty. That isn't a "removable battery" by any conventional definition.

You can, but you will probably void your warranty

Well, the fix worked. Charge for 24 hours even though the phone does nothing and doesn't warm up, unplug for 12 hours, plug back in and leave it for an hour. I got the "low battery' screen for about 2-3 minutes when I plugged back in then it disappeared again. No light, no battery meter on screen but the phone warmed up. When I tried to power it on an hour later it worked fine.

Has anyone had any success doing the 'fix' for 12/6 hours instead of the long 24/12 hrs wait? Cannot afford to have my phone down for so long..
