Alright, so everyone knows that Oneplus 8 pro has many display issues like Black Crush , Banding and Green tint. But in this thread I want to highlight one issue that no one is really talking about and that issue is bothering me from the first day I started using my Oneplus 8 pro.

So previously I was using Oneplus 5t and upgraded to Oneplus 8 pro and the issue what I am facing is that the low brightness level of the screen is very bright as compared to my Oneplus 5t. So it becomes very difficult to use phone in dark conditions. I particularly use my phone at bedtime and I am not even able to use it for more than 10-15 minutes due to bright screen. It just hurt my eyes. Below is a screenshot of both the phones at lowest brightness and you can clearly see the difference.

I have contacted Oneplus customer support and also reported bug in the forum feedback section. But all I hear from the Oneplus officials is that our developers are already working on this issue and it will be fixed in the upcoming update. I did got two new updates 10.5.11 and 10.5.12 but the issue still persists. Not sure how much more I have to wait to get this fixed.

I am not sure of others but for me this issue is even bigger than those other display issues and is effecting the overall experience of my new phone that Oneplus is calling their flagship. If you also feel the same then please vote yes in the poll section. (Use browser to access poll section as it won't display in app )

Increasing the lowest brightness is OnePlus's fix for the display issues. Increasing the lower threshold of the brightness hides a few display issues. Let's hope this is a temporary fix. For the time being you can use a third party app to lower the brightness.

Yes! Absolutely. Thank you very much for making the exact post I wanted to do.

First of all, my oneplus 5T got stolen, so I though of buying a better one. I couldn't wait phoneless, so I actually got myselft a oneplus 8, instead of the oneplus nord which is lower price.

In any case, the first thing I though was "this screen is so bright, and this is the minimun?"

I know some people may be conservative in their opinions regarding devices, but this screen brightness even in very dark places is not an improvement rather than a bug.

Yes, I miss my old oneplus 5T and its low brightness.

Plus, just an off topic: the screen of the OnePlus 8 is advertised as bigger of the 5T, but actually it feels smaller and thinner. I don't have small hands. Even in the photos you posted is very noticeable that sizes online are not what you end up with.

OnePlus 5T didn't required an extra intervention, why?

Because 5t doesn't have these display issues and hence is no limitation put on the minimum brightness via software.

It is a good thing that you recognise also it is indeed a screen issue,

They should deploy a fix asap, don't you think?

I actually had an 8 pro but returned it because of all these issues. I hope they fix these them at the earliest. These issues definitely ruin the experience of using the phone.

I am using 8 Pro, and the brightness is absolutely perfect.
In lowest brightness it is indeed quite low - with side by side comparison with OP6 and OP3T brightness is low. No issues on my set.
Mine is a July manufactured unit.

Looks like it is not. You can clearly see the discoloration in different areas of the screen
