Luxury goods have always been thought of as flashy items, like cars or diamonds, but recently technology has entered the fray. Expensive technology has exceeded the boundaries of generally perceived limits of wealth and created a niche market for goods that draw their value not from their intrinsic properties, but from their unique and progressive qualities. Technology companies strive every day to make their products better and bring about small changes which can be utilized as a selling point for the said equipment which is made to cater to people who live above average. The growth of progress has been hampered by the micro-updates being sold in more attractive packages, which leaves the user more confused and disillusioned. The new packages start to cost more and more, and the consumer keeps on buying it, feeling that minute changes are an excuse for the small changes. Recently, companies have been trying to change the trend of catering to rich people by creating affordable products. Should companies change the practice of making minor updates and selling them as new products or is the current system better for the consumer as well as the company?

Any product that is mass produced, purchased by millions and costs "a lot of money" is not a "luxury / exclusive product" - they're just overpriced items masquerading exclusivity with $$$
