Don't worry. Even 19th March 2017, it does not happen. You expected more from Oneplus team

I want to wait a lot longer as long as the OS is stable, reduces batterydrain and makes the OP faster.

If not all of these improvements are included please do not bring out an update at all and let the OP2 slowly die...

I've got the k3 on KK and the K5 on Lollipop. No Marshmallow.Just read an article on Android Authority, not too convinced. They usually post a favorable article in order to push sales and advertising revenue.

What is different between Cos and Cm? And you will need root, when you want flash?

CM is for CyanogenMod developed by the community. Developers do it for free.
COS is for Cyanogen OS developed by Cyanogen Inc. Developers are payed.

COS is the official build and it will be released by OTA

About flashing, you don't need to root to flash a rom but to do only the point 1 and 2 of this list:
    1. Unlocking Bootloader: Opens the door to the internal memory of the device to be written on to. This allows you to flash images onto the main partitions of the phone.
    2. Installing a Custom Recovery: A custom recovery is flashed onto the recovery partition of the device and overwrites the stock recovery that exists by default. Custom recoveries bring lots of functionality and give you the ability to perform wipes, install flashable zips, create full backups of your NAND (Nandroid backup), and various other features. An unlocked bootloader is needed to install a custom recovery.
    3. Rooting: You can gain root by either flashing via recovery a pre-rooted custom rom, or flashing a zip containing the SuperSU binaries. A custom recovery is necessary to do this.
Here a complete guide if you are curious about flashing:
