You can look HERE why the battery drains and ''lagging" is happening but to keep this short...

"When you have recently performed a major update, the ART cache is invalid and all the apps need to be converted and optimized fresh. This is going to slow your device a bit and cause a noticeable drain on your battery. Every major update you'll see everyone complaining that the new update is crap and the old version runs great, and how it was so much better. Now that Oreo is out, Nougat is great and Oreo is crap. How did Nougat become great? When Nougat was released, everyone said Nougat was crap and Marshmallow was great. And every time people complain about the drain, someone else will tell them to wipe caches. What does that do? All the progress your device has made will be erased!"

That's normal,it done to prevent the battery after 80% or more the dash charging becomes normal charging, btw just restart your phone once if you feel any problem.

Wipe the cache partition from recovery mode by following step.

    1. Turn the phone off(unplugg the charger if charging).
    2. Hold Power and Volume Down
    3. English (or pick any language that you want)
    4. Wipe data & cache
    5. Wipe cache (it's doesn't delete your personal data)
    6. Yes
    7. Reboot.

If you done the above process and still your problem is not solved then report your bug here:

My wifi is always turned off at night since the update and also "search for connections while wifi is off" is also switched off. Before the update my battery consumption during night was about 3-5% with wifi on..and now its 20-30% without wifi.

Never trust anyone that tells you to perform the same operation multiple times. The cache is on the data partition, so wiping data is sufficient. It even says "& cache" in step 4, so why wipe the cache that doesn't even exist anymore? The answer is that you DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

Everyone keeps parroting info around without any clue as to what they are doing or why and that just seems very dangerous to me.

Clearing cache (from recovery, that's the ART cache) won't clear data, but won't fix your problem either. Try it and see! Your phone will be a little slow for a day or two and your battery life will be even worse during that time. In the end, there will be no change. The storage cache is the cache used by each app, like thumbnails, browser cache, and other files. Clearing it means freeing up storage space and having to download or regenerate those files again.
