Sometimes this is caused by the media scanner getting stuck on a file, or things like that. There's many cases of it on Google.

For now I'd just force stop and clear cache of File Manager app, and then reboot your device. See if that stops it from draining.

Also, there's no need to clear cache in Recovery if you have the OP6 because A/B partition removes cache partition. You can try it if you have another OnePlus device however.

Android System is clearly the culprit here...

I had a similar problem after updating to 5.1.4. So much so that I ended up doing a factory reset (since clearing cache and disabling background activity here and there did not help).

Everything seems ok now. The phone shows close to 6 hours SOT with 35% of battery power to spare.

Correction: The application(s) keeping Android System awake is/are the culprits.

Try doing what I always do. As I cannot guarantee certain results, this is what I always do.
    1. Download full rom from website or alternative mirrors (1.5 gb)
    2. Clear cache from storage and recovery.
    3. Place the zip file in your phone's root folder (internal memory)
    4. Go to settings - - > system update - - > upper right cog --> upgrade from internal storage
    5. After installment, clear cache again from storage and recovery, and now also go to settings - - > apps - - > Google Play services and here from storage clear all data.
    6. Reboot phone again and monitor activity

    Tell me if that worked.

do you mean if I am able to use or if I don't use because of battery drain? I just use the stock black wallpaper that comes with the phone
