I successfully came back to Oreo , wow great . my small suggestion for u , download Oreo 8.1 , 5.1.7 rom from op website and flash it manually may be ur issue will be solved. ur data will not be erased. for the safer side take a backup of ur data . I revert back to Oreo from pie with no data loss I'm amazed . my device working super fast now . hated the laggy pie .

An app on your cell is not allowing your phone to idle when it's not in use. This is why the wake bar is solid when it should not be. It should look similar to your screen on bar.

I am not sure what app us doing this, but more then likely a social media app.

Turning off WiFi when your not using it will also increase your battery as it won't constantly be checking for a connection.

Well, I just got my best sot since ob11, now on ob23. I think adaptive brightness has really helped. I'm also on wifi all day, that helps a great deal.

Since 5 days ago my battery is only lasting from 5 to 4 hours, even with the screen turned off. Most of the Battery is consumed by Google Play Services, between 10% and 45%.

Battery health is optimal (86% health)
according to accubattery. So I'm clueless.

is this an update thing? anyone else is suffering this?

It looks like the new update thing as Google play services is eating very much battery before it didn't.

Instead I did a dirty flash and tried to install the open beta 23 update still then Google play services is consuming battery not very much but yeah much which was better on stable 9.0.2 from which I was coming from.

Has anyone else, of late, noticed a downgrade in the performance of their device?
I used to get an average of 8-9 hrs of SOT before. I haven't updated my device, it's still on 5.1.7, device usage hasn't changed substantially too. Never had an issue with the device so far. It ran smoothly, everything was perfect. But since the past 2 weeks I have noticed the device hanging and stuttering way more often, and ofcourse the battery issue.
I have tried clearing the cache, but hasn't worked.
Suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance.
