Well, most users of smartphone uses streaming services, it is pointless for a dedicated Music app, when there are lot of them available on Play Store, the default music player is Play Music.

For some of us with Music archives that don't exist in streaming silos because of licensing issues (jazz, reggae, blues, etc), the offline music app is very important. Oxygen not having one is a major omission. Perhaps in the next rounds of user communication it can be discussed again. Maybe the community can code something? ( sounds like a fun project. I would be willing to chip in some hours)

Why build a new app when there are 1000s of players on play store.
One can choose a player as per their liking.

    a couple reasons:

    * most of them don't adhere to modern Android UI standards.
    * most are overly complex in pursuit of having a lot of features.
    * none that I've seen use Oxygen's design philosophy.
    * ads

what I appreciated about both LG and HTC's music apps is they fit the design narrative of their corporate versions of Android. it's a small detail for most people, but for those of us who spend alot of time listening to offline music it's a big deal.

I don't believe u understand what I'm saying. and that's cool. after using stock corporate music players, blackplayer and Poweramp feel messy and incoherent. they are not thoughtful in terms of design.

There was a OnePlus music player. It sucked. That's why they removed it.

i've read many times. that shouldn't stop development of an essential app. *every* major phone manufacturer ships its own music player for a reason; to express the design philosophy of it's products through sound.

Music player is not an essential app. It is a bloat ware.
And very few like you want an app which follows the design cues.
I personally have no need about design. I want functions and performance rather than just looks.

Interesting perspective. as a paying customer I believe my opinion is just as valid as yours however.

searching through the forums there are many people that are asking for the Oxygen native Music app. why minimize their experience as invalid because we are a minority?

Isn't the history of OnePlus as a brand focused on representing minority opinions about technology design?

Furthermore your tone is condescending. If you don't want the Music app, fine, no need to categorize it as "bloatware".

If the OnePlus community is to sustain itself, collaboration is needed, not snark and dismissive attitudes.

It was not a condescending comment. It is my perspective.
Unless an app is essential for system working, it is a bloatware in my opinion. I even consider the pre installation of the community app and google apps as bloatware.
