[Mega Thread] OnePlus 5T Trade-In Program

Should be an exchange offer for the people who bought the flagship few months back?

  1. Yes

  2. No

  3. Not bothered, I am happy with 6 month old flagship

Now that the OnePlus phone cycle seems to be of 6 months(not really happy with that), do you think there is should be an exchange offer for the people who bought the flagship few months ago?

    Update on OP5T Launch:
It would be unveiled on 16th Nov 2017 and would be available to buy from 21st Nov (at least in India).

    Another Update:
Looks like the OP5T price would be same as that of OP5. If there is another iteration of a flagship phone within 4 months of launch, that too in the same price there should definitely be a trade in program.

    Update after OP5T Launch:
Just checked with the OP Official in India. They confirmed that there would be no Trade in program for OP5 owners, at least in India. :(
From the discussions after launch with the OP officials, I inferred that the there might be a trade in program for the future launches, but nothing for OP5. They did not say that directly, but got some hints.

I agree, but then people expect at least an year cycle before they buy a new phone. If the cycle has change, OnePlus should officially start stating that, instead of keeping it a secret.

Agree, but people buy expecting that this is latest from the Company for at least an year. If there is another cycle coming in 6 months, people might prefer waiting.
    Just my point of view.

They did offer a trade in/buy back scheme for EU and North America users but the amount was pitiful.

You would get more selling your device yourself.

5T price is gonna be rather high. €550 which comes out to be around ₹44,000/- which is too high for its specs and usage. for that value I can even get galaxy S8. and Huweai is producing good phones ( value for money with better specs). So I'm rather gonna keep OP5 for a year and then think about Changing to a better version than just to a bezel-less screen in 5T. don't think they are gonna give a better ppi and OIS in 5T. just the screen change.
plus lots of companies are investing highly in AI(artificial intelligence) in chipsets, so ultimately even 5T gonna be outdated within 2-3 months. so what's the point of upgradings.

No. And I have no idea why it should even be considered.

After the 3t happened, it should have been in the back of everyone's mind that a 5t would probably happen. When the 5 was leaked and then announced, the first thing I thought of was that a 5t would release near the end of the year. It didn't stop me from buying a OP5.

IMO, the upgrades aren't worth ditching the OP5. A better screen, a better camera, and maybe a small battery bump. That's hardly anything to get excited for.

If you're one of those that needs the latest and greatest, sell your OP5, and get the 5t. But just know that next year, the OP6 will make the 5t feel outdated. It's a never ending cycle. Get what you can afford/think you need, and stop complaining.

And most of all enjoy the affordability while you can, because OnePlus devices keep creeping towards flagship prices with every new release!

I don't give a shit about 5T..i'm happy with my op5 after switching from a Nexus 5. Also there will be no exchange offer, why would oneplus take back a phone released 4-5 months ago? makes no sense.

There will be no buyback just relax and enjoy your phone and be happy that OnePlus is progressing.

If you want a phone that is standing still go and buy an iPhone 8 where it looks the same as the iPhone 6

Got my OP5 for like 3-4 weeks, I got some kind of pissed off when I saw that 5T was about to come out ..
They definitely got to make some kind of exchange or buy back system with owner that bought OP5 after summer (for example)

An exchange offer? this is such a childish and naive idea!
Seriously, why would a company do that? think about it.
They made a product, you buy it. With that money, they made another one: they expect you to buy it too, for the next one. And so on, and on, and on...
That's how industry and capitalism are working.
