Moronic statement, have you even read up on it? It's a revelation for manufacturers and custom roms.

Here's an explanation from XDA as to why we won't see Treble on the existing phones:

Also a confirmation of what I said in an earlier post about it being mandatory going forward for any device shipping with Oreo or later versions :

Read up on treble all you want

Currently it only shines on paper. I'm yet to see it actually do something

And those aosp ROMs you see on XDA? That's just some bs and sometimes I just facepalm when reading XDA articles due to the nonsense they are able to get away with

Forget XDA. Remember when Dalvik was replaced by ART? Was there any benefit at first? No, but eventually apps started to open faster, operate faster, didn't require to wipe Dalvik cache... So I don't hope to see a huge benefit just because of Treble itself, but I see it as a good another step.

During and AMA session on its official forums yesterday, a staff member explained that implementing Project Treble on current devices through an OTA update comes with risk of bricking the units. Here's what they exactly said:

Project Treble requires a storage partition, by which the Android framework and vendor image are separated. However, because partitions were not required of Android N and previous versions of Android, all of our current devices do not feature a partition. According to our tests, if we were to modify the partition layout via OTA there is a risk that devices will brick during the partitioning. We feel this poses too great a risk for our community of users, which is why we have decided not to implement Project Treble on current OnePlus devices.

For those who aren't aware, Project Treble was announced by Google several months ago as a feature of Android Oreo. It basically modularizes the Android OS so that OEM customizations stay separate from Android, which would effectively lead to reduced time between update roll outs.

they have given a valid email explanation and I appreciate it .for those who are saying how did essential and mate 9 got project support they got the support because they already had a different vendor partion which is required by the treble .
p.s: if I am wrong then correct me .

Not really, I posted it multiple times in 5T and 5 section at time of posting. Hence maybe they closed the multiple threads.

This is another way for One Plus to force current owners to buy new phones. All phones that ship with Oreo have to be treble compatible so the 5T is the last phone they can do that with unless One Plus plans to ship next year's models with Nougat just to get out of supporting Treble.

The thing people here don't seem to realize is that Treble will do you no good on a One Plus phone anyway unless you are running a custom ROM. One Plus isn't going to provide Android version updates longer because a phone has Treble.

Oreo is the last official Android version the OP3/3T will receive. Android P is the last official version the OP5/5T will receive. Adding Treble would not change that in any way.
