Cant help it. Thats the way it works.....On top of that face recognition in OP5 unlocks phone even when ur eyes are close which is not a good feature.

It's way faster with the fingerprint anyway. Face unlock requires the phone to be at face level which, most of the time, is a pretty weird position.

no, just adjust ur face angle to face it, pretty fast too, but I dont like it when I have to swipe again.

OnePlus's face unlock is shit. don't use it. It's not like the iPhone x face recognition. If anyone has your photo they can easily unlock your phone (OnePlus) unlike iphone x which has 3D face recognition..

Face unlock will never be as secure as a fingerprint or iris scanner.
Faces are not unique, there are a bunch of people in the world that look like you. Sure, the chances of them actually wanting to steal crap from your phone is very small, but my point still stands.

Also, since it uses the camera to "scan" your face, battery consumption may rise too.

Just use the fingerprint sensor, peeps. Face unlock is nothing special. If it weren't for that stupid iPhone X, nobody would give a damn about facial recognition.

Thats not strictly true in the way that technology works. The reading of fingerprints is never perfect, so therefore the match is never perfect. With phones, the match is not on your entire fingerprint anyway (speed and ease of use on device) - it is on multiple small areas. So in theory if your fingerprint is 50% different to another persons, but the phone chooses the areas that are not unique then the other person could be able to log in.
Existing facial id again uses a small number of points of reference to create a pattern (it is basically looking at relative spacing of major features like nose, ears, eyes). What Apple have done is to massively increase the number of points of reference, and also use alternate light sources. This is creating a fairly full 3d map of the face. This is why Apple's FaceID is in theory more secure than current face/fingerprint read technology.

Assuming upcoming OP5T Face unlock feature is NOT just using Google smart lock service would like to see it also available in a future OP5 OOS update.

Assuming 1+ 5t is not just smart lock, the 5t will probably have dedicated sensors (like Apple with FaceID) so the 5 won't get that feature...

Face Unlock is a feature made by Google, not OnePlus. They can't improve it.

EDIT: Seems like OnePlus actually did their own implementation. I (possibly) stand corrected.

An effective processor has nothing to do with the lack of hardware for reliable facial recognition

Stop making a fool out of yourself:
    1. Samsung uses specific hardware to scan you iris. OnePlus does not have that hardware.
    2. Face Unlock is developed by Google, not OnePlus. Therefore, OnePlus cannot update it.
    3. Snapdragon 835 has nothing to do with it.
EDIT: Seems like OnePlus actually did their own implementation. I (possibly) stand corrected.
