Try killing the process and shut down your phone and then start it.

Hopefully the next update expected next week will improve the battery again..... It was great on the 25R software and went downhill after 30O

That's very odd. Generally, what consumes the most battery should be Screen/Display. You could have a rogue app that triggers Messaging?? Have you tried to go into Settings and Force Close messaging? If not, I would reboot

Could be that you have an issue receiving some text/MMS. I personnaly had the same pb, some MMS content could not be downloaded (cm software bug saying no apn configured) and so the app was trying to download over and over, it was stuck in a loop and it lead to this kind of consumption.
I would suggest you have a look at your sms/mms and see if you have some message which is being downloaded, or something like that and delete it/cancel the dl.
I don't see it as a bad battery, even if the battery was wrong you would still get balanced results accross applications/system percentages, only it would drop faster.

    guys, calm down!
it was something to do with the messaging app, I now use hangouts (basically the same) and the battery time is fine now! works fine nothing wrong, I'm fine! lol
maybe a rogue app indeed but I don't feel like making a big deal out of this.
