    question:

I'm using a 12.1 NIGHTYLY-bacion version (it's a bit old, 20150426, i was a lazy updater), rooted, and using the latest TWRP update, (android 5.1.1).

Should I use a signed fastboot zip or a signed flashable zip?
I'm worried that I'll lose many things on my phone when using the signed fastboot (and I'm not sure how to backup everything to not lose stuff) and the flashable zip seems like a much easier option to use. What would you advice @Spannaa?

    Personally, I'd advise using cm-12.1-20150905-NIGHTLY-bacon.zip :D

If you really want to move to COS12.1, the flashable zip should be fine. You should wipe everything except internal storage (and USB OTG) though as it's a different rom and you'll have problems if you don't.

You could use the fastboot files, wipe internal storage and not fastboot flash the userdata partition image instead.

Thanks! I think it works. No noticeable errors.

The first thing that pops up is a message that new nightlies are available to download, if I decide to update that so now and then.. is there an app that can be used for that or do I just need to do that right through trwp again? Or do I have to back it all up as well? That's all I need to know to get going.

You can update to newer nightlies via the updater built in to settings or you can download and flash via twrp.

So is there going to be a rooted version of the ROM or can we just flash the stocked ROM with SuperSU and call it a day?

    I don't know - I'm only mirroring them!

    Stock + SuperSU is fine.

You probably need to wipe data before flashing too if you're downgrading from COS12 or CM12

    Yep.

The firmware is included in the zip so you should be OK with just that.

If it goes wrong, fastboot flash the contents of the fastboot zip instead.

As I said, if it goes wrong, fastboot flash the contents of the fastboot zip instead.

Just "fastboot flash system system.img" should be enough.

    Hi,
I'm a bit of a newbie to flashing tho have done a couple of devices after following guides from www.
Trawling through various threads on here I cannot make sense of what is the right or wrong way?
Do not want to brick my One! :)
Looking at going back to CM11 from CM12, not sure what version yet, are there any issues that I may encounter doing this?

    Thanks.

Well I have followed the guide by timmaaa and have managed to go back to cm11 from cm12 and all seems OK.
    However
When I now go into recovery I don't see twrp that I installed, all I have is cynogen basic recovery.
    What have I done wrong?
