If you're rooted or have any system mods, it's the only way.

Why do people keep asking this?
You don't need the full 2.1.2 zip to upgrade.

How would you install it other than in stock recovery? If it's not possible then I have tried everything.

You can _not_ install fullrom in stock recovery!
    You _need_ TWRP for this.

    You misunderstand!

You don't need the full 2.1.2 zip because you can:

    Boot into TWRP recovery
    • Flash the 2.1.1 full rom zip
    • Flash the 2.1.2 OTA incremental update zip
    • Flash the SuperSU zip
    • Reboot
The result is exactly the same as if you'd flashed a 2.1.2 full rom zip.

    OK! Then it's my bad!
I like many others have misunderstood you wrote!
I didn't think I could use the OTA file.

You can if you flash the clean, unrooted 2.1.1 full zip first.

Well I'm running a rooted device with OOS 2.1.1
Do I really have to unroot by installing the clean unrooted 2.1.1? Won't that erase all my settings?
Wouldn't it be easier just to provide the full zip like before?
I tried installing the OTA via twrp and it didn't work. Check the uploaded screenshot.

I tried it just as you wrote here + cleaned the Cach & Dalvik cach before reboot!
Seems like it's working! Phone is starting and optimizing apps as I'm writing right now.

Hope It won't have to be like this every time an new OTA comes!

I guess it is not working since you have received an error...
Optimizing apps is just because you cleared cache and dalvik...

I assume you have _not_ flashed 2.1.1. fullrom before the patch and that's why it failed...

    Correct assumptions!
I redid it as I wrote above and it worked fine :)

As I've said on numerous occasions: Flashing the clean unrooted 2.1.1 won't erase your settings or delete your data.

Your flash didn't fail because you used TWRP, it failed because you were rooted.

    "/system/bin/install-recovery.sh has unexpected contents"

/system/bin/install-recovery.sh is replaced by the SuperSU zip when you root so, your rom wasn't completely stock.

I noticed with this new update 2.1.2 Ota zip finger scan does not work at all after I flashed it, so I went back to 2.1.1 instead .... @Spannaa any help..
