What are the odds that OnePlus will release a fix for the recently published WPA2 vulnerabilities (and not to mention the Bluetooth vulnerabilities)?

I do like the OxygenOS ROM, but if they will never release a patch for these security issues, I'm afraid a custom ROM is the only way forward :( Based on the little detail that the last android security update is the 1st of June patch, I'm skeptical...

I had a feeling that someone would comment on f-t-l travel :D
Einstein's general relativity theory doesn't rule out f-t-l speeds, but crossing from below to above lightspeed requires infinite energy according to it. Light interference patterns (e.g. the maximas) can move f-t-l, but this doesn't move information so it isn't very interesting.

As for hell freezing over, it depends on which hell you use as a reference. In Dante's Inferno, the innermost (9th) level is described as being very very cold, whereas it is hot according to the New Testament.

So in the end there might be a 3.6.1 release to fix the wpa_supplicant before the end of the year ... but I doubt it

Has the OTA from 3.6.0 to 3.6.1 zip verified? I just tried to dirty flash and it gives me updater error 7 in TWRP..

Verified? - It comes directly from OnePlus.

Are you rooted? If you are, that's why.
OTA updates only work on non-rooted devices with no modifications to system files.

If you're not, post the full TWRP error message - it should say why it failed.

It says your boot partition (kernel) isn't fully stock so the update aborted.

The solution is to flash the full 3.6.1 zip.

Okay, I've made an arse of myself and overwritten the boot flash partition.

I was on TWRP-3.1.0 & OOS 3.6.0, working to upgrade to 3.1.1/3.6.1 and simply by not paying enough attention to reusing the "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1.0-oneplus2.img" line, I manage to flash twrp to the boot partition as well: "fastboot flash boot twrp-3.1.1.0-oneplus2.img" (note the flash that shouldn't be there ). I found the Stock OnePlus2 Toolbox.zip and flashed boot1.img to the phone.

I can boot into fastboot & recovery (TWRP 3.1.1) without problems, but booting into the system is hosed. I have the 3.6.1 full zip on the phone - can I just install that and it'll overwrite the boot partition?

    Edit:
Solved it. I extracted the boot.img from the 3.6.0 full zip and flashed that. Then it would boot normally. I presume that flashing the full 3.6.1 zip would have solved it as well.

Looks like hell has frozen over after all! I got the OTA notification today. Been so long since the last update that I didn't recognize the notification icon anymore at first LOL. The best part, it also includes the Android security patch up to October, meaning the Bluetooth vulnerability is also fixed!

Will sideload the Update zip as OTA doesn't appear to work on fully encrypted phones.

edit: sideloading worked like a charm :)
