Good thing about rooting these days is you don't need to learn all that. You only need to understand what you're doing. Try WugFresh's Bacon Root Toolkit. It provides a GUI for all your needs, so you don't have to deal with the commands and stuff. Here's what you'll basically be doing:
    1. Unlock - this will wipe your device though, so make a backup somehow.
    2. Root and also flash custom recovery (TWRP is recommended).
You'll have the stock rom with root access after this. If you want to try a custom rom instead of stock, you could just straight away flash a custom recovery after unlocking, then flash the custom rom. Most custom roms comes with root.

Hi I need some help with my phone, it keeps rebooting and I have important pictures inside. I back up with TWRP but they changed it to the stock recovery, I have important pictures inside which Google Photos did not back up. Any way to fix this ?

Who changed it back? o_O Flash TWRP again. Wipe cache and dalvik cache too, then try booting. You could also use ADB pull to copy the files straight to your PC while in TWRP recovery.

Yeah, I get driver issues sometimes too. Try this toolkit. It should solve your driver issue one way or the other. Also try switching cables, could be a faulty cable.

Change the cable. Keep trying with different driver methods. Does your PC pick up the device at all?
