I just wanted to know why the oneplus one is much more expensive in the UK rather than USA e.g. the 16GB is £230 and $299 (approximately £180). The 64GB is £270 and $349 (approximately £205) which is a price difference of over £60. I was just wondering if there was anything to it.

    Thanks

Don't forget the U.S. prices don't include sales taxes until checkout (I don't think) because they're based on where you live, so they're not actually quite as cheap as that.

Needed to match or exceed Nexus 5 pricing here in the U.S. plus cost of living is higher in U.K. when I go home to visit the U.K. I would dream of purchasing anything there its just less expensive here in the States

There shouldn't be a tax in the US unless there is a distribution center in the state you live in. Unless otherwise mandated by the state (I don't believe there are any that do), Sales Tax is only required to be collected by a distributor if the distributor has a physical presence in the customer's state. The spirit of sales tax in the US was to maintain infrastructure so that customers can get to your store. If you don't have a physical anything in a state, then there is no need to maintain the infrastructure. Sales Tax is rolled into the shipping costs though, which makes sense. Charging tax on both the shipping and on the non-physical store would be double dipping which is why states have had a very hard time getting online goods taxed.

You need to compare to € prices (with taxes), not $ prices (no taxes). 64 GB costs 299€. That's £239 (aka £30 difference). And 32GB is 269€ which is £219 (actually 215, but that looks ugly) [£10 difference).

So you are paying more money, yes. But then again, your goverment chose not to participate in the €. Now you have to live with the consequences.

This has been discussed many times for many products. A quick google search will teach you that UK prices seem so expensive because it includes all forms of taxes whereas US price does not.

It will be shipping and import costs, also they probably take a bit of a cut outside those costs for the effort.
