I had a Droid 3 with a TFT display and it sucked worst display ever with horrible viewing angles.
Do you think this TFT display will be as good as an ISP LCD.
And did Motorola make a mistake

According to hands on reviews the display is great so shouldn't be an issue, it has to be better than the old gen AMOLED panels they used on previous phones.

Also i forgot to mention my tab pro 8.4 has a TFT display and it looks better than most IPS displays and has better viewing angles but then again it's made by Samsung.

I wonder who supplies the displays for the moto x?

Their tablets have mostly been LCD but they have switched to AMOLED for tabs as well now.

Nexus 10 is a Samsung LCD display. Victim of the light blead scandal but still one of the highest resolution displays and it came out in 2012.

I know its the same thing just renamed. Since it takes power to power blacks on lcd I'm just thinking itll take more power for one of their main features.

Are you sure Samsung actually manufacture the display on the nexus 10? I know LG quite often use JDI displays on LG nexus phones to save money so i think Samsung might have done the same as they don't always manufacture the displays on their cheaper products.

I've compared it to some other ips lcd displays and in real life the tab pro is noticeably better.

Here are the viewing angles of the tab pro (TFT) vs OPO (IPS)

Yeah. It was the highest resolution tablet in the world at the time. And it wasn't really cheap either.

The level of ignorance in this thread depresses me. An IPS display is a TFT LCD.
TFT is a pretty bad term to use in marketing mostly due to the fact that pretty much all display technologies use a TFT layer in some form. Saying a display is "TFT" doesn't describe or signify what it is. The only thing it does is tell someone that the technology in question is using "Thin-Film Transistors" to hold charge in some way. This is completely irrelevant to what kind of picture quality you are getting out of the display.

    This right here!

IPS screens are TFT, AMOLED screens are TFT, TN screens are TFT. The only screens that are not TFT are Plasma and CRT.

    Edit: Changed Oled to Amoled
