    This issue is not related to Media codec or anything like that.
    The root cause is driver signature check enforced on Windows 8+ versions. As we do not have any digitally signed drivers from Oneplus or Google for our OnePlus devices we face issue in driver installation/loading. Proof - check device manager the error will be something like not able to verify digital signature blah blah !

    I tried everything to get my OPO to be mounted in Windows 10 Pro N x64 and nothing worked until I found this:

    There is a new Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 for the November update (1511)!
    The old pack (KB3010081) does not work on the updated version of Windows 10 and the update to 1511 removes the already installed media feature pack.

    The new update package is KB3099229 and can be found here:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3099229

    This was already posted but the original post and links are not up to date.

    Um, this saved me on my Windows 10 Home edition. This was for an old S2. completely wiped it, formatted storage to use CM13, couldn't get it to detect phone to transfer files at all. Googled a fix, found this post and you saved me. Thank you! I use chose Portable Devices and first thing that popped up was MTP driver for phone and it worked like a charm.

    All you need to do with new windows 10 not detecting Android phone is, install below two KBs and restart.

    Step1. install: 'KB3010081' ---> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3010081

    Restart

    Step 2. install: 'KB3099229'---> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3099229

    Restart

    And you are done. Open My computer and you will see MTP logical drive in there.

    After one more reboot, you may see your phone model/ make as drive label.

    Thanks and enjoy!

    I had this problem for weeks! Finally I selected manually install driver. Standard MTP driver. Then, MTP driver USB. <--- The same as the previous video.

    For what it might be worth, after scouring the web for why my OnePlus 3T was not recognized by Windows 10 Home 64, I noticed that if you pull down the notification bar at the top of the OnePlus 3T screen, the USB app is right there in the drop down, though still not visible as such on the bar. Selected File Transfers and, walla, OnePlus connected in Windows. Hope this helps.

    If you still can't install a driver for MTP, even if you try the steps above, here's what worked for me.
    I connected my Oneplus 3T to a pc with windows 10 x64, installed the Oneplus drivers that came with the phone, selected MTP in the pulldown USB menu on the phone, but nothing.
    Restarted pc and phone, installed the 2 update packs for mediaplayer, drivers from google, even tried connecting with USB debugging enabled, nothing.
    Tried to update the MTP drivers manually, like in the videos, but no Android Phone option appeared, and whatever else i selected (standard MTP device, etc) i kept getting the error "A service installation section in the INF is invalid".

    Long story short: Microsoft, in their infinite "wisdom", saw fit to enable by default the Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 10 x64.
    And since the drivers from Oneplus are not digitally signed, they were installed but NOT used by windows.

    As a result i had to first disable the signature enforcement (google for the method to do that, it's quite easy), then I updated the MTP device manually, i selected the folder "Oneplus USB Drivers" from Program Files (x86) as the location for the drivers.
    Windows found the unsigned driver, offered me the good old option to "install anyway" that was missing, aaand voila! ... phone was instantly detected!

    Hope this helps someone :)

    Easy troubleshooting ..

    (1) Go to C:\Windows\INF

    (2) Type "wpdmtp.inf" in search bar provided to the right of the address bar in Windows 10.

    (3) Once you found it, just right click on it and select install. It will take a very few seconds.

    (4) Connect your device to the pc.

    It works..
