While on a train overground or underground, on entering a tunnel on a train music player stops and volume drops to half upon pressing play again.

Yep, still haven't figured out a way to get radio waves to pass through concrete yet. I'll let you know when they do.

if you are streaming then there's not much to do, else if it's a Google play music issue(highly unlikely) I would suggest checking out Ymusic which is a good alternative with material design, while allowing playback for YouTube too.

I have the same issue. When playing pre downloaded music or video on the train it pauses and adjusts volume down by about half when going through a tunnel. I can only think this could be either because of the change in air pressure (no idea how that would work) or because of the sudden loud background noise? Any ideas?

Yeah that doesn't make any sense at all. A tunnel has nothing to do with pre-downloaded music. If for some reason there were a bug it would have to be something to do with the signal loss though. Not air pressure or background noise lol.
