    How did you enable DayDream? And which headset are you using? I've no such issues, it works as well as on the 3T.

    I used the magisk module to enable it, it's like you can see the pixels artifacting wonder if it has something to do with the display being mounted upside down.

    lol no as I've no such issues. I've the DayDream headset.

    idk, perhaps the module is not good, I just edit directly in etc\permissions\ the file handheld_core_hardware.xml by adding the below lines:

    <feature name="android.software.vr.mode" />
    <feature name="android.hardware.vr.high_performance" />

    Works perfect.

    Hey, I said exactly what to do in my initial response:

    -Use a file explorer with root access and head to 'etc\permissions\' directory
    -Edit the file 'handheld_core_hardware.xml' by adding the 2 lines below:

    <feature name="android.software.vr.mode" />
    <feature name="android.hardware.vr.high_performance" />

    -Save&Close the file

    -Reboot your phone

    VR services etc should now update over the play store and you are good to go!

    I wonder if it's because I edited the build prop by adding the line ro.product.device=sailfish? as it fixed some games not opening in be mode but as the pixel XL uses the Snapdragon 821 maybe that's why I'm seeing the artifacts!? I can't see why it should be giving me these issues though.

    I can try with the edite buildprop, I tried it on the 3T for those apps that wouldn't enter in stereoscopic mode and they worked but I don't like spoofing my device model so I reverted back. I can try to replicate on the OP5 later on as I haven't tried the edited buildprop on it.

    yeah I can confirm the buildprop edit generates artifacts. But I doubt it's related in any way with the jelly/inverted panel since artifacts are not present without the build.prop edit.

    No problem! Just remember as you already pointed out that some apps/games don't play well without the buildprop edit and fail switching to stereoscopic. I've personally no use for these apps and games so not an issue for me.

    That being said if I want to try a new one that requires it it'll surely be a bummer.

    Just to remind, after you reboot, you still can't find Daydream on Google Play. Then you need to clear Google Play data, then works as expected.

    Download Daydream VR, Daydream keyboard and Google VR services.

    with the build prop edit also the immersion and the experience didn't feel right compared to when I used it on oneplus 3. I hope without the build prop edit it works better

    Most apps not Google doesn't seem to work like they should without the build prop sadly. This phone would be a beast for daydream. I've have no problem with the lower resolution, it's the same as the smaller pixel.

    Enabling Daydream on a 1080p 5.5" display will only lead to disappointment.
