I'm a TL;DR kinda person, so no in-depth review from me! Here is a relatively brief list of pros, and cons (hardware and software) according to my own experiences after using the OnePlus One as my main phone for a month. I might also make a few comparisons to my old phone, the Samsung Galaxy S4 from a subjective point of view. Your mileage may vary, because some cons are personal preferences, and some are case-by-case, i.e. not every OnePlus One owner will encounter them.
Pros:
- Minimalist appearance, with no hardware buttons or logos on the front of the phone
- Feels solid in the hand
- Curved back and straight edges for a comfortable and steady grip
- Sandstone Black finish is out of the ordinary, and feels nice
- Bezel and chassis is made of rigid magnesium alloy
- CM11S out-of-the-box
- Rooting/unlocking does not void warranty (like it should be)
- Bright 1080p IPS display
- Loud dual mono speakers (and I mean LOUD - like scare the shit outta you in a quiet room loud)
- Camera is placed up top and out of the way (button placement also helps), harder to accidentally smudge the lens with your fingers
- 64 GB internal storage for fast, spacious memory
- All-round top-of-the-line specs so you can brag to others about your Antutu score
- Good to excellent battery life, 2+ days of moderate usage
- Pretty good value, at $349 USD (excluding postal fees and stuff)
- A real hipster's phone, like "It's the OnePlus One, you've probably never heard of it before"
Cons:
- It was harder (and costlier) than it should've been to get into Australia
- Vibrate motor could be stronger; it isn't very good at alerting you of calls or messages
- Besides 4K video, 13 MP camera wasn't a big improvement over the Galaxy S4's
- Dual LED flash isn't "True Tone", and is a smaller improvement over a single LED than expected
- Lack of (or relatively few) accessories such as cases, screen protectors, replacement parts
- It is possible to insert the SIM tray upside-down, risking damage to the SIM reader (I've only ever done it once and didn't break it, luckily
(it's not possible on phones like the iPhones, HTCs and LGs))
- Needs a longer than iPhone-length SIM eject tool, so it may be difficult finding a replacement
- Touchscreen isn't 100% accurate, maybe 85-90%; not something to expect on a flagship killer
- From what I heard, customer support is terrible
- StyleSwap cover really does become loose in places if you take it off too often
- The slightest bit of yellow tint (gasp)
Pet peeves:
- Volume buttons could be longer and feel more separate
- CM11S is odexed, which makes it harder to mod APKs
- Sandstone Black finish feels like it can wear out if cleaned too often
- USB port is "upside-down" relative to Samsung's standard orientation, so my dock doesn't work with it
- 13 MP photos aren't exactly 4:3, but instead 263:195 (4208x3120)
- The top and bottom bezels could be a little thinner
I'm pretty sure this is incomplete, but it's already longer than planned, so whatever,
