    hey all,
last week I noticed my mic stopped working. When I call people they dont hear me and when I try to record myself on my OPO it is not receiving any sound.

is this a common issue and how do I fix it?

I had an issue with my older phone. Seems, I had to clean debris out of the mic.

Yes, @ellenbestebroer - This is a problem, possibly a common problem. I know I experienced this problem, and it turned out to be a failed main microphone. My wife's phone is also experiencing it, to a lesser level.

I just received my replacement OPO yesterday.

Now, that said - There is an excellent software solution if you don't want to go through the hassle of analysis/replacement from OP. However, it does require rooting your OPO, and some minor technical knowledge. Basically, the "repair" involves software re-routing of the main microphone signal to use the speakerphone microphones instead. It works great, and involves changing 3 small text values in three system files.

Nobody has had any problems understanding me after doing the software modification. The only reason I returned my OPO for repair/replacement was because I had a perfectly usable phone that I had available for the time while my phone was being replaced. I would have been fine without replacing it, too.

    The instructions are available: Here.

Also, feel free to PM me for help.

Try this before anything else. Pocket lint can clog the mic hole.
