I've never had an issue with touchscreens working here in AB Canada. It is regularly -20 to -30 in the winter here. This makes me a little worried as I just ordered the opo yesterday.

I have to say when I text somebody sortly I won´t get any problems, but when I read some news or whatever that tkes a longer time I can recognize the issue.
It sucks, but it is , in my case, not a dealbreaker

There should be no reason for cold to affect the touchscreen, whether finger or the phone itself. Cold environments can cause a noticeable delay in the actual LCD itself causing ghosting.

    From Wiki:

"A capacitive touchscreen panel consists of an insulator such as glass, coated with a transparent conductor such as indium tin oxide (ITO).[citation needed] As the human body is also an electrical conductor, touching the surface of the screen results in a distortion of the screen's electrostatic field, measurable as a change in capacitance."

This is why those touchscreen gloves work. The finger tips are impregnated with a conductive material.

As a fellow Minnesotan and owner of a OPO, I can assure you mine is able to work in the cold. It does got a tad sluggish if left completely exposed in the single digit temps (Fahrenheit) for a few minutes but no noticeable drops in performance. If you're worried, keep it stored in a pocket that's close to your body rather than your pants or outer jacket pocket.

Got the same issue as OP.
Although it's not "cold" here, when I play Ingress with +10C screen becomes unresponsive

I live in Germany too, and I must agree that the screen response is a bit sluggish when used outside in the cold. Surprisingly, this happens especially when using the touchscreen gloves.

Well you probably live in a different part. Where you live it might not be cold, but in others places it might be freezing. For me, where I live it doesn't get too cold, nor does it snow, but in other parts of my country (United States) it gets freezing cold with snow to the point where people are trapped in their homes.

    Tit for ****.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the device. Touch screens have heat sensors which react to your skin's thermal energy. So, its very obvious that low temperature will temper the thermal process.
    Cheers :)

Oh I had similar issue few days ago when there was +24C outside.
It seems my phone doesn't like either chilly or warm.
