I think they already came up with a "solution", which is either a $20 voucher or simply return the phone

It's was not just the invoice. Now the product page is saying what it is saying because they have changed it. It used to be
"Pre-order now and get a mystery gift worth $99!"
Has anybody got the screenshot of the page v.1.0?

No where did OP state the gift would be $99. It just happens that's the value they put on the invoice for it probably because their system required a value (but not 100% sure). Yes it's annoying they've marked up a $20 item to $99 on the invoice but they never said you'd get a gift worth that amount.

Where abouts on the product page did it state that as I check the Web Archive to check and could see $99 gift mentioned anywhere

Really? I didn't notice that in my many visits. If it did say that, then what i said is likely completely invalid. Again, this thread was helpful, in that it helped me make the right purchase choice. My Pop-Up Box arrived today. I'm happy with it but would prefer a normal case, it looks cool but juvenile / too flashy. :)

They did state the value initially during the order process, until it was updated recently. What you see now isn’t the page immediately after the launch. If their system required an amount to be input, why not just use $10.00 or $11.00? There are plenty of two-digit currency numbers, just like $99.00, that is closer to the value of the gift they ultimately sent. So unless they have a team of really lame developers, that does not make any sense at all. If that is true, their whole team, right from Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, and Development team, are full of incompetent people who don’t have a clue as to what they are doing. If so, that burden is theirs to bear, not by the customers.

Yup thanks for the warm welcome. Also just joined team #return8t after realizing there were 16 pages of posts here and this was not some weird 2020 joke I was in.

I can definitely see the confusion that OnePlus has caused. It's not the first time and won't be the last. It's a free gift they advertised and that is what they gave out.

Support seems to be giving people a $20 voucher as a goodwill gesture.

If people really ain't happy, return the device.

I think the flask is a pretty cool gift

Ok you can stop shilling here they won't hire you.
Add one plus and mystery gift and it clearly states at checkout you're getting $99 dollars discount. The problem is it's for initial preorder BEFORE popUp box and they try to scam us, **** em 8t is going back to them. If PopUp boxes would have not existed or would have been more expensive people would not be as disappointed.

Sure, to me, it is not a matter of getting a $20.00 voucher. It is about business ethics and principles. With what they did, they broke my trust in their brand – been with them since they launched 2T. I had a near similar experience earlier, and they assured me that something like this would not happen again, but it keeps happening.

I have about 20 flasks with me, some of which are of much better quality than what OP sent and none of them costs anywhere close to $99.00. I would have gladly accepted it if they had advertised it without stating its value because I would have known what exactly I was paying for. However, the $99 value they advertised was one factor I based my purchase decision on, in addition to staying loyal to the brand as an OP user for a long time. So, it is a case of not fulfilling the expectation that they initially set before they took my money.

To add insult to injury, they came out with the Pop Up offer soon after the initial launch for the exact amount I paid for the flask bundle. They should at least run a unified promotion for a particular region during any given time frame (say, for the entire pre-order phase). If they run multiple promotions, do have the courtesy of informing their customers in advance, so they have choices. Besides, offer different value for different promotions and don’t rely on shady marketing tactics. These are basic business 101 lessons!

I know they won't, not that I'm looking for job as thankfully I have a job I'm happy in. Seems you're not willing to see it from another side which is fine.

I've certainly seen OnePlus do some stupid things and I certainly have my annoyance with them on various things.

Pre-orders usually get their device first compared to pop-up boxes. Pop up boxes are used to keep the hype around the product which is why they've got extra goodies in them.

Happened with the Nord so not surprised it's happened with the 8T.

And I totally understand your frustration! They definitely shouldn't have put $99 on a item that isn't that value and especially on a free gifts. They should have put $0 next to it to avoid confusion and disappointment.

OnePlus recently have definitely down some stupid stuff recently and I've had my fair share of annoyance with them.
