    I7 processor
    8gb RAM min
Decent gpu to handle Dota 2 and CS:GO @ Max settings and other latest game titles at low atleast.

Let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

The Dell XPS line of laptops are superb. I think they are by far the best build quality for a windows machine.

I have both the XPS 13 and the 15. I purchased a manufactured refurbished XPS 15 for $1K...excellent deal and fantastic laptop.

The Lenovo Y series are also great! I have got the Y50 with 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Full HD screen and 860M graphics card, 4710HQ i7 2.5-3.5Ghz. I payed €1350 for it (but especially for students with extra warranty which makes it a bit more expensive), but there is also a cheaper one (less RAM and no SSD), which costs here in the Netherlands around €900 (around the same in $ thanks to the bad €)

It is fast enough for me and preforms really well!

Do you have one? But if I am honest I did send it back 3 times.. They changed the motherboard and the SSD, because it was really slow (starting and shutting down) and now it is great once again! The niced thing about it is the keyboard and the way it looks ;)

I would recommend used/refurbished as long as you're careful with it. I got a $1200 ASUS laptop a couple months back for $800, virtually perfect condition. The biggest issue with refurb or used may be the harddrive; they tend to have a finite life span, and you never know the current condition.

As nice as a Macbook can be, a Macbook hardly tends to fit into the price range mentioned, and definitely won't handle gaming the way that a typical PC gamer (even a mild PC gamer) would need.

If you want to be technical you can easily find a 2012 MPB on craigslist with an i7 ssd upgraded ram etc for under $1000

I bought one in 2013 for $700 of CList I ended up putting a $100 ssd and it still functions amazing. I use it to dj and to code

But it depends what you want to do if you looking more for gaming dont go the mbp route

You can find a 2/3 year old used macbook, yes. But even if it were a PC, those specs are not enough to game on. A mid-end gaming laptop is kind of an essential here.

Actually, I do. I want an old Mac to learn the system. Problem is, Macs hold their value too well. To get a mac cheap enough to even be worth it for that simple purpose, I'd be buying a stupidly old mac mini which I'd be lucky if it ran anything past OSX 10.4...
