    Harifism , Nov 15, 2017 :
I have seen several posts saying Netflix or other streaming apps will not be able to stream at full HD on Oneplus phones. As I use these sites regularly for media consumption, I need an answer before buying Oneplus 5T!! What's the use of full HD+ display if you can't utilise it?

No. Oneplus phones don't have the necessary DRM as of now to play netflix, etc on HD. It's confirmed to be coming to 5/5T via update. 3/3T users can hope/wish/pray that it gets here eventually.

It's been coming since the OnePlus 3 if that gives you an idea of how much if a priority OnePlus thinks it is.

Personally, on a screen this small I don't see the point in viewing content at1080p. The visual difference at this physical size isn't worth the extra bandwidth it uses.

Still, I for example clearly see the difference between 720 and 1080p on my OP3T's screen and would like to be able to see Netflix in HD. If bandwidth/data consumption is an issue, i can switch to 720p at anytime.
Another reason i regret not going for the S7 for the same price. OP looks good on paper but has all these hidden issues that you only find out about after buying the phone...

If you're broke doesn't mean we can't spend the extra gigs for the quality.

I hope this issue is fixed soon... I'm disappointed with the fact that it took this long for oneplus to recognize this and still have to wait for the fix!

well for me, I can clearly see the difference in quality on SD and HD. It may not be a priority for you but people who enjoy quality media consumption on phone will differ on that ‍♂️
